Yo, Bruce.
There are two types of viral: 1) friends recommending to other friends because they're delighted, and 2) apps that automatically spread themselves to your connections. The first kind (like Twitter) has organic and increasing growth, if the app is good. The second kind might get a steep ramp up, but then a sharp drop -- a "shark fin". See http://lsvp.wordpress.com/2008/03/10/...
Holding my score ransom so you can auto-tweet it doesn't make me delighted with your app; it's just the opposite.
Good viral growth happens when you have a great app, and you trust people to tell their friends about it.

DBI doesn't seem usefulMany of the useful, conversational people I follow are 90+. Other noisy types are 90+, too. Maybe I don't get it, but DBI doesn't seem to help me differentiate between DB's and useful folks.

A comment on the idea "Add a way to filter out low-ratio users" in Mr. Tweet:
I had the same wish as Kevin after trying "My Followers I am not following". The high level goal is something like #2. I'm interested in following people who are following me personally with specific affirmative intention, not just following me with other en masse. – peterkaminski, on November 24, 2008 15:35-
