I apologize for our occasionally overloaded servers.
For the times when our servers aren't down -- does it give you this problem only on certain networks? (Edge, 3G, wifi) Also, have you noticed any other consistencies when you get these errors?
I've found that reinstalling Twinkle helps in some cases - let us know if that works.

Try logging out and in again on Twitter.com, note that it's case sensetive. Also try restarting (hold the top button to shut down and wait for about a minute). – lawrencejob, on August 21, 2008 07:26

Basically it's too big for edge to cope with at the time, so it times out... Just try again or use a different network type. – lawrencejob, on August 21, 2008 07:23

Hi Andrew, great. That is exactly what I was looking for... I just want to display my current location on my PHP based web site. So if you could send me the code snippet that would be great! – MichaelUrs, on August 15, 2008 05:15

Check out my blog to see what I did. I wanted to create a basic badge, similar to what Twitter does. I wrote a simple piece of code in PHP to display my most recent "check in", how long since I updated, and a "follow me on Brightkite" link in a text format where I can style it with CSS.
If your server is running PHP 5 or greater, I can send you the snippet of code if you like what you see. I can also give you my CSS if you like.
For the example, follow the link and you will see it in the green box on the right:

That is actually in interesting idea Garret...if there is a way to allow Twinkle to directly utilize the API during your infrastructure downtime it could save some grumbling about downtime. Of course your other services during that downtime would be unusable but at least the basic "Twitter" experience would be still available. – Fearcake, on July 19, 2008 04:36
