Hi,
we obviously have built several possibilities to access and manage your data outside the plazes.com website.
On the one hand, the ical and ATOM feeds are the most basic ways to interact with your data.
On the other one, the plazes.com API at http://plazes.com/api/docs permits mashups, custom plazers and everything else you might wish for.

Hi, thanks for the great idea!
We'll probably have a new version of the plazer, where all your suggestions will be considered. The issue you are speaking is difficult to tackle - the condition for when to check-in and when not are never accurate for all cases. But, we're working on it and thanks again for the feedback!-

Philipp J. K. replied on July 18, 2008 10:57 to the question "Any plans to get location from Fire Eagle?" in Plazes:
Hi,
the problem with a pull from FireEagle is that the location we get from FireEagle lacks context - meaning that we get the address, but not what this address actually is.
We cannot determine univocally where you are at that address. A little example: at Monbijouplatz 5 here in Berlin there's our office, but there's also a bar and other offices and each of them has an individual Plaze. So, if we get "phikappa is at Monbijouplatz 5 in Berlin" we still don't know at which Plaze he is - the bar, our office, another office?
That's why we do not pull the adress from FireEagle, it just lacks essential context that we absolutely need.
Philipp J. K. replied on July 11, 2008 14:22 to the question "What is the Plazer and why should I install it?" in Plazes:
The Plazer is a little software application that you can install on your Mac OS or Windows PC. The sweet thing about the Plazer is that it automatically detects your location so that you can easily create activities directly on your desktop. You can also use it to get alerts on your friends' activities without the hassle of logging in to the Plazes website. A lot of our users view the Plazer as an easy, non-intrusive way to keep them and their friends updated about each other's activities.

Philipp J. K. replied on June 16, 2008 15:07 to the question "How can i recover my password?" in Plazes:
That's an easy one!
Go to http://plazes.com/passwords and insert the email address you've used to sign up to plazes.
You'll get a fresh one right in your inbox!

How can i recover it?
Philipp J. K. replied on June 09, 2008 09:27 to the problem "Plaintext password in welcome email = fail." in Plazes:
That is true. And the fact that also a lot of other sites do this, is not an excuse.
But we are aware of this problem and implementing a lot of security/privacy measures across the board, this is one of the things we'll tackle in the near future.
We are currently working hard to launch the new site so this may take a while, but it's quite high on our schedule (also because a lot of people here are internauts like you and perfectly understand that passwords in plaintext are a big security issue). This said, i'd like to reassure you: we are working on it.-

Philipp J. K. replied on June 04, 2008 13:18 to the question "Closed Beta: When will Twitter integration become available?" in Plazes:
Hi guys,
thank you so much for the feedback, that's what a beta is all about.
oo, you are absolutely right, currently the tweet is far too cluttered and we are already rethinking it's format (quite unsurprisingly, your suggestions have hit the nail on the head).
Andy, very very probably you're using the closed beta website in it's german version, that is why it's appearing in german. shouldn't happen, will very very probably be changed.
obviously we still need to tweak the feature here and there, but for the release everything should be fine. in the meanwhile, you've just helped making the next plazes.com a little better ;)
Philipp J. K. replied on June 04, 2008 10:21 to the question "Closed Beta: When will Twitter integration become available?" in Plazes:
From now on!
For all our current closed beta users, Twitter integration is now available.
To activate it, go to your account panel ("Manage" in the bar on top) and then click on "Plazes extensions" and on "Publish on Twitter". Insert your account information for Twitter and voilá, you're ready to go.
Your newly created activities will be posted to Twitter in the format "At [Plazename] ([City], [Country]) "[Status information]", [Date] [Time]", but only if your marked it as "public".
An example: phikappa at Plazes Berlin (BERLIN, Germany) "Talking with myself on GetSatisfaction", 04 Jun 2008 09:45)
Later on, we will also add a link to the activity you've just created on Plazes.com to your tweet.
For now this feature is only for plazes.com closed beta users. When we'll go live, it will be for everyone. Huzzah!
