I really like this as well. I would probably want to fade it to invisible, but have it available on every page (not just pages associated with feeds). This is because hopefully the feedly button would pop-up some options like what you get with 'gg' (a little fancier perhaps, with one or more buttons to take me to a feedly main page).
It would the nice if you could put a summary of what new article are available somewhere on the bar (at least the number of unread articles, but more detailed information would be great). This could also satisfy the needs of those who have asked to put the number of unread articles on the feedly button.

Google searchIs it possible to have feedly search results in a google news search like the regular google search?-

Phil replied on November 21, 2008 18:05 to the question "How to install / setup / add / whatever an RSS link?" in Feedly:
There are several ways. In Firefox 3, if I just have an RSS link I want to add, I can paste the link into the address bar and then select feedly from the drop down subscription box at the top of the page.
I can also subscribe by adding the feed to google reader and then restarting the browser so that feedly resync's with the reader.
Also if you browse to a page that has an associated feed, you should see a +f in the address bar. If you click it, the feed should be added to feedly.
Hope this helps.

Functional again, but now very quirky. Scrolling and the navigation keys work again, but not in concert. The j and k keys result in an inline expansion-type box around the article. The selection box moves with the j and k keys, but not with the scroll bar. Scrolling changes the selected article as indicated by the left bar. Thus using a combination of the keys and scrolling results in the weird occurrence of one article selected with a box and a different article with the bar.

My List of Feedly Quirks1. When feedly doesn't find an image to display for a category it sometimes displays a blank rectangle and sometimes a flower/star-type image. Why isn't this behavior consistent? Also, why not display a feedly logo since there is currently nowhere on the feedly product where feedly promotes itself.
2. The "x more in dashboard" in the side bar is a little confusing. How about saying "x more in this category with all articles read."
3. The unread count on the cover page doesn't update until refreshing after reading an article that opens to the website in another tab. The cover page unread count does update immediately for articles read in feedly.
4. The "back to XXX" logic is funny. It sometimes isn't there (e.g., yes from menubar while in a category, no if from menubar or title while on cover). It sometimes says back to a location I didn't come from (e.g., category name if I visit a feed from cover page).
5. The "feature" of selecting a feeds magazine appearance by visiting from the cover (or dashboard) is quirky. I also don't like getting a different view just because I visited from the cover page. This functionality should be left to the dashboard.
6. The timeframe options are not ideal (24 hours, 3 days, 5 days, 7 days). I think 1 hour, 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days, would be a better set of options.
7. Navigation options currently include inline, preview-only, preview, and visit. Preview either previews in a pane or inlines. I'd like the visit option renamed to visit-only and a new visit option that either visits or inlines depending on whether the feed has summaries or entire articles (similar to the way the preview option functions).
8. Why is there "(p. 1) " in the browser page title of a category view when some views don't have (magazine) don't have paging ability.
Phil reported a problem in Feedly on November 18, 2008 17:33:
Strange behaviors in feed view with Entire Content InlinedI'm not sure that there aren't more symptoms, but auto-select on scroll doesn't work and the keyboard navigation doesn't work either. E.g., 'j' gives a message box "loading articles" and 'k' (with bottom article selected) gives message box saying 'at top'. Navigation works fine in image and summary view.
In the error console on refresh:
[feedly][expandedList][error] failed to display articles because TypeError -- this.isDestroyed is not a function [.../js/10101_feedly_2142.js@1187]
[feedly][list][error] failed to display articles because TypeError -- this.isDestroyed is not a function [.../js/10101_feedly_2142.js@1187]
(There were also various warnings about style related things which resulted in declarations being dropped. Let me know if you want that detail.)

Defaults in configurationSometime when feedly's default options have changed, I think my configuration has changed also. Sometimes, I didn't get a new option because feedly kept my old setting (the new auto-mark-as-read inline only is an example).
I think that "default" should be a valid option for configuration (and be the default setting). So that feedly knows where I have expressed a configuration preference and where I just want to track the default behavior.
I note also that feedly doesn't currently complain about the use of invalid options and that the use of an invalid option (such as "default" currently) doesn't necessarily result in the default behavior (I checked out the sidebar option only, where entering default resulted in no sidebar).

Sidebar limit on number of sources too lowI don't like the new limitation on the number of favorite feeds and sources listed in the sidebar. I use the lists quite a bit, both to navigate directly to a feed page and to mark as read a feed that I want to skip. My typical use pattern is impeded by the new limitation on the number of feeds in each (to three or four). In particular the limit is most inconvenient with respect to the favorites section.
Perhaps if a limitation is necessary, the number of displayed feeds could be raised to 10 or so.
Phil shared an idea in Feedly on November 10, 2008 17:27:
auto mark as read suggestionI generally don't use the auto-mark-as-read functionality because I often skim summaries for priority content and don't want the other articles to be marked read before I come back to read them.
An exception to this is when I put a feed or page in Entire Content Inlined view. Then I am more likely to appreciate the auto-mark-as-read function. I think allowing users to choose to auto-read inlined content views without auto-reading summary views would be an improvement.
That said, I am not uncomfortable with the current functionality so if it works well as-is for other users, I'm fine with leaving things be.
