Backwards Compatibility (and a little bug)?Hi there
Just a short question: I'd like to explore the 1.5 preview while my customers still work with the official release. Can I open (or even slightly edit) the mockups without breaking backwards compatibility?
Cheers,
Philipp
ps: This is in no way a feature request. I'd just like to know whether it's an option or not. Although I'm seriously planning to hook up all my customers on balsamiq; I'd say I can ask them to always have the latest version installed (with upgrades being free)...
ps3: Just found a little bug in 1.1 - I opened a few locked (read-only) mockup files and tried to save them. Balsamiq did somehow not realize / communicate that and did - well, nothing :)

Hi Giacomo
Wow, that was fast reply - again. I'm impressed!
BTW: The path was already selectable, just trying to copy it to the clipboard didn't work - you might want to check that out, too.
PNGs are important to me when it comes to sending sketches to stakeholders (other developers, customers, my boss...) that don't own balsamiq. In that case, I wanted to send an email to a customer and drop the file into the skype window to show the sketch to a fellow developer. In both use cases, I needed a file rather than having it in the clipboard.
Another use case: Just take the screenshot above. I made it with Snag-it which offers me both copying to clipboard (using that a lot) and saving as... (using that even more). In this case, I saved the screenshot to my desktop in order to upload it to this board :)
Keep up the great work!
Philipp

I just got a pretty annoying use case where I'm starting to *really* miss the "save as..." dialog for the PNG export:
- We are storing our mockups on a sharepoint server
- If I open them directly through the browser, the mockup is downloaded to my temp folder.
- When saving the sketch as png, balsamiq stores the image directly into the temp folder which is buried pretty deep. Furthermore, I cannot even paste the path that is shown in the confirmation dialog to the clipboard - I have to open explorer and search the manually. Given the outstanding usability of the tool itself, this is a little annoying...

Clipboard and Save As... support for PNG exportWould love to see other options for the PNG export in Desktop:
- rather have a "Save As..." Dialog than the modal confirmation dialog (one click as well and I can save where it makes sense to me.
- copy PNG to clipboard - this is a feature I use a lot in UML and screen-capturing tools, as I often need to put the images in other documents.
