I assume the problem is that the number of events in the storage calendar is very high. Have you been using the local storage calendar, or only remote calendars?
If you only have remote calendars, then you can rename the storage.sdb file in your profile. This will recreate it and allow you to re-subscribe to your calendars.
Philipp Kewisch replied on October 23, 2009 14:37 to the question "Calendar Invite Message Filter" in Mozilla Messaging:
Hello Mike,
I haven't tried this, but you could try adding a message filter on the "Content-Type" header and see if it "contains" "method=". Most invitations have a Content-Type header like
Content-Type: text/calendar; charset=UTF-8; method=REQUEST
Not sure if this works though, since most invitations are multipart messages and I am not sure if Thunderbird also scans headers in other parts than the first.

Philipp Kewisch replied on October 12, 2009 10:40 to the question "Sunbid 0.9: possible Task View" in Mozilla:
Hello Owen,
glad to hear you are interested in taking time with Sunbird. The reason we don't have a dedicated task view in Sunbird is foremost your first reason. Back in 0.9, we introduced the concept of "modes" for Lightning. While for Lightning it made sense to have a mail, calendar and task mode, this seemed overkill for Sunbird, since it doesn't need a mail mode. Therefore we postponed this until a good UI concept was thought of.
Unfortunately we will be concentrating on Lightning so we won't have time to take care ourselves. Please see this blog post for more details.
If you would like to get started with calendar development in general, I can send you some links to get started. Write me an Email and I'll get back to you. With these links you should have enough info to put some sort of task view into Sunbird. If you would like to go one step further and take the lead for Sunbird's future, do let me know too!

Still having this problem? You can enable some logging, see the FAQ for more information. This will tell you which events are downloaded and also possible errors.

Philipp Kewisch replied on October 04, 2009 11:29 to the question "How to sync E71 with Lightning? WAS:nokia e71 synchronise, any progress anyone??" in Mozilla Messaging:
Try SOGo, together with funambol for syncML and SOGo's funambol connector (bottom of page)
This isn't an easy setup I agree, but it does give you a caldav server for use with Sunbird/Lightning and a syncML server for use with your mobile.

Have you tried the Lightning extension, together with either Google Calendar via the CalDAV protocol or the Provider for Google Calendar. In any case, please read the FAQ, especially for business users there are some server side limitations regarding invitations.

Philipp Kewisch replied on October 03, 2009 14:53 to the question "lightning calendar import wrong time zone" in Mozilla Messaging:
If you want to keep the timezone info and are comfortable using an editor, then I'd suggest creating an event in the new york timezone, exporting it. Then copy the VTIMEZONE definition for new york at the top of the file (everything between BEGIN:VTIMEZONE and END:VTIMEZONE) into the file you want to fix, and then change all TZID parts in the events from the pacific tzid to new york, as defined in the VTIMEZONE.
The other possibility is to remove the timezone info, this means remove the TZID parameter from the ics file. An example line with a floating time looks like this:
DTSTART:19980118T230000
We have no graphical way to change the timezone for a large number of events, maybe this would make a nice extension.
Hope this helps
