Where are all these followers coming from? Are they auto-followers?

Recently I passed 1000 followers at http://twitter.com/phocks

Now all of a sudden I'm getting a flurry of followers from what looks like lots of marketing and business websites (looks like I've gained nearly 100 in a day).

The accounts look like this:

http://twitter.com/faybe
http://twitter.com/abelmore
http://twitter.com/Debbas
http://twitter.com/WeArePrinting1

etc

I'm not really complaining, as they're adding to my follower count, but just wondering where they're all coming from. Are they auto-following from some kind of list?

Even if you block someone, there is no way to prevent them from tweeting with an @reply to your username, and yes if they are publicly broadcasting their account, people will be able to see these replies.

If they are a spammer, you may be able to get their account suspended by sending a msg to twitter.com/spam

Where did the Twitter public timeline go?

Since the new layout with search included, the link to the public timeline is mysteriously absent. Just wondering about the rationale behind this move.

Note: it is still accessible at this link: http://twitter.com/public_timeline

I only noticed this after getting a failwhale page, and saw the old link up the top.

If you use gmail you can use plus "+" sign addressing to create aliases that still get delivered to your email.

eg. user+twit1@gmail.com will still be delivered to user@gmail.com

I haven't actually tested this with Twitter, but have used it with other services

Same here, cookies are being accepted, but still have to log in every time..
