postcaster asked a question in blip.tv on September 27, 2009 03:48:
How to enforce new encoding to flvHow to enforce new encoding to flv, when the first one, automatic one went wrong. It happened that only the first 30 secs of a 8 minute video were encoded to flv. So I deleted the flv version and hoped a new encoding would start again automatically but it didn't. So what to do? The Master file (m4v) is fine and full length. I don't want to upload again, any way to enforce a re-encoding???

hi again
so now i managed to change the date, it worked fine for a while, but then suddenly the episodes were no longer displayed in their order by date, but in the order they appear in the episode view in the dashboard. now i created a playlist with all episodes, ordered them propperly, made a new player with this playlist set as mode, set this player as default ... but still the same ...
goto gutemedien.blip.tv and you will see, the 2nd to 8th one are from 2008, so they should appear much more down ...

Dear blip.team
Since it seems one cannot answer once one has got a personal support answer (maildelivery failure to support[at]blip.tv) I just copy and paste my mail exchange with one of you:
hi guys
the only way I see now to change the order of episodes in the show player is to manually go to the old dashboard (blip.tv/prefs) and change the date, but that's only possible for the latest 10 episodes, because this option does not appear once you clicked 'show all episodes' ... would be nice if you implement this in the new dashboard propperly.
and how can you choose now to display a certain playlist in the showpage instead of all own episodes?
best wishes
with compliments

Hi,
Normally you would be able to do so be dragging and dropping your episodes into a different order at http://blip.tv/dashboard/episodes However we are investigating some issues with this method right now and recommend using the older Dashboard in the meantime at http://blip.tv/prefs
The episodes in your show are displayed in date order, based either on the date that you uploaded them or the date you set on the video. You can change the date attached to a video at any time by clicking "Edit" on the video and then opening the "Categorize" box on the form.
Once you've done this just change the date... your video will now show up in a new place in your list of episodes based on this date.
Alternately, you might find it easier to leave your posts in their current order, create a playlist <http://blip.tv/playlists>, and create a new player <http://blip.tv/players/edit> having set its type to "playlist".
We'll be allowing Show Pages to display specific playlists in an upcoming release in the next week or two.
Thanks,
Tom
Dear Tom
Thanx for your answer, but your decsribed way of changing the date only works for the 10 most recent posts, once it is older than the 10 newest, there is no way to access an edit option for thoses episodes ....
Anyway, you're doing a great job ... rock on!
Love
