I was actually thinking of this just now. Specifically I was thinking how feasible it would be to have Ning usernames login to IDC in order to, possibly, replace the comment system in blogs and/or forums.

How to integrate ID into an existing membership database transparently?Very interested in ID, but we want to be able to easily allow our existing member base to use their existing logins as transparently as possible with ID (in other words, not forcing them to register for new ID accounts, AND allowing their typical sign in on our sites to programatically sign them in to the ID accounts.)
Does ID offer an API that would allow this sort of two-way interaction? For reference, we're using PHP and MySQL for our membership backend.
