Looks like I was too quick to give up. Google Groups provides RSS feeds for threads and messages in its mailing lists, here's an example of one I'm on:

But again, to make it relevant to me, you'd need to filter listings by email address... -

I had a look to see if there was an RSS available, but couldn't spot anything :(
I guess the other option would be to cc my "post by email" address in every mail I wanted to publish on soup, but that seems a bit kludgey. Would it be possible to create another email address per user that one could subscribe to lists on which you were a member, and configure it to look out for posts from you (by specified email address or something)?
Do you guys plan on providing a public API to publish stuff to soup (or author our own autoimport plugins) or is the point that such a thing shouldn't really be needed?
