PrintWhatYouLike replied on April 20, 2009 21:21 to the problem "Doesn't work with the DiggBar" in PrintWhatYouLike:
Hi, thanks for letting me know about this. Aside from taking sites google ranking, plastering digg logos over other people's sites, and generally being nuisance on the web, the Digg bar also breaks PageZipper :( The reason for this is simple- The digg bar is a normal web page which consists of the digg logo at the top, and an iframe containing the target page under that. When you start PageZipper, it immediatly scans the page your on to find the 'next' link. With the digg bar, PageZipper ends up scanning the digg bar page, instead of the target page. We really want PageZipper to find the iframe and scan that. That sounds easy, but unfortunately it isn't. I don't know if your familiar with the same domain policy, but basically it is a security precaution built into all web browsers which prevents javascript loaded in one domain from accessing a different domain. So javascript loaded on the digg domian is forbidden from scanning the contents of an iframe, if the contents of that iframe are not from the digg.com domain. Firefox extensions do allow you to work around the same domain policy, but most people using PageZipper are using the bookmarklet.
I'm working on adding a small toolbar that will appear when you load PageZipper. I'll update it to check if a user is on a digg page, and provide a link for them to leave the digg page and go to the original article. Thats not a very satisfactory solution, but I don't have any better ideas at the moment. If you come up with anything, please let me know.

Thanks for submitting the screenshot. I understand the problem now. This problem is with the PrintWhatYouLike Button Firefox Extension. This extension was developed by one of the users of PrintWhatYouLike, David Vian, not by the PrintWhatYouLike team. For problems with the extension, please contact him for support. You can either contact him at http://www.ildavid.com/ or send an e-mail to mestesso@ildavid.com.

Hi, I think you are right- IE7's security settings are probably blocking PageZipper's javascript from loading. Go to Internet Options, click the security tab, and set the security settings for Internet to Medium-high or Medium. That should fix it.
The PageZipper code is too big to fit entirely in a bookmarklet- so the code you add to your bookmarks is just enough to load the main PageZipper file from the printwhatyoulike.com server. IE7 is blocking this request to the server. Bookmarklets with less than about 2000 characters of code can fit entirely in the bookmark, so they do not require an external file. Thats why some of your bookmarklets work and some don't.

Make sure the link has been added to your favorites, and that your bookmarks toolbar is enabled. There are instructions at www.printwhatyoulike.com/pagezipper If that isn't working, are you able to find the PageZipper link anywhere in the favorites menu?
A comment on the question "Pages that aren't working with PageZipper" in PrintWhatYouLike:
Thanks! This is occurring because PageZipper is not handling relative links correctly. The first page on the site has the address www.thesuperficial.com Some of the pages after that have the address www.thesuperficial.com/page.php?p=X where X is the page. The links on the page.php pages are in the form Next Page » The problem is that PZ is resolving those links relative the the page its on, www.thesuperficial.com, and getting links like www.thesuperficial.com/?p=4 instead of resolving the relative links to the page they came from, http://www.thesuperficial.com/page.php, and getting links like http://www.thesuperficial.com/page.ph...
I'll fix it in an upcoming release. Thanks for the bug report! – PrintWhatYouLike, on April 14, 2009 06:24
PrintWhatYouLike replied on April 12, 2009 17:05 to the question "How do i update pagezipper. Using the bookmarklet." in PrintWhatYouLike:
You don't- it's automatically done for you :) Basically every time you click the PageZipper bookmarklet, your browser requests the PageZipper code from the printwhatyoulike.com server. When I update PageZipper, I just put the new code out on the server. The next time you use PZ, your browser will grab the updated version.

I tried this url in Firefox with the bookmarklet and the extension, and it worked for me. Are you able to get other sites, such as google, to work correctly? – PrintWhatYouLike, on April 09, 2009 15:38

This site positions everything absolutely. The elements in the page are given exact coordinates to appear at on the screen. When you load the next page, it overlaps the first page. PageZipper does a limited check for this and tries to fix it. But it isn't working for this site. I'll work on improving it. – PrintWhatYouLike, on April 03, 2009 15:21

This site uses javascript links. PageZipper can't get the url to load from links that call a javascript function instead of including the url. – PrintWhatYouLike, on April 03, 2009 14:44
PrintWhatYouLike replied on April 02, 2009 23:54 to the idea "'Printable View' feature for browsing webpage." in PrintWhatYouLike:
That's a good idea. We are slowly working in that direction with the 'Do it for me' button. It figures out where the biggest continuous chunk of text is on the page, and assumes that is what your trying to print, and removes everything else. In the future it would be logical to make it use the print view and any print css stylesheets.
It would also be nice to have a more streamlined way of removing all the junk off webpages.
We are also working on a way to save your changes. So if there is a site you use a lot, you can use PWYL to reformat it to your liking, and save your changes. Then when you go to a page on that site, pwyl will automatically apply your saved changes to the page.
PrintWhatYouLike replied on April 02, 2009 18:46 to the question "internal websites" in PrintWhatYouLike:
PrintWhatYouLike works great on internal sites! You just need to use the bookmarklet. Get it here- www.printwhatyoulike.com/bookmarklet When you click the PrintWhatYouLike link in your bookmarks toolbar, the PrintWhatYouLike editor will appear in the page you are on.

I'm not sure what could be going on. I tried it on Safari and FF on my machine and PageZipper worked fine. There's nothing on the site which would give PageZipper any trouble. Does it always stop working at #47? – PrintWhatYouLike, on April 02, 2009 18:40
