Clicking through time in bigger steps

Clicking to move forward through time is annoying, and I know there has been discussion on perhaps some alternative to clicking, but I just thought of something that might be easier than revamping it to be drag-to-scroll (or whatever) instead.

How about having an additional arrow, a sort of "fast-forward" arrow, that skips ahead 8 hours instead of just 2?

There might be a way to design these 8h arrows to look natural alongside the existing arrows... perhaps something like this: --> >> (where --> is the existing arrow, and >> is the new fast-forward arrow that is spaced a little bit away from the existing arrow).

They just don't appear in the feeds that others use to browse what all of their followees are saying, unless they are following both you and the person to whom you're replying. A comment on the problem "Impossible to click boxes on 1024x768 screen" in Snooty Monkey:

I noticed a bit of twitchiness (unable to recreate it now, so maybe you fixed it?) awhile back, but I fixed it for myself by just making sure my window was wide enough.

When it was happening, it seemed to be related to the bolding that happens in the time scale when hovering over a bubble that corresponds to an even hour (so, the numbers on the scale only, not the dots).

If Eric's issue is related to the one I saw (which may have been fixed enough that most of us don't see it anymore) maybe it has to do with the width of the columns and the width of the default font in Eric's browser. – Qrystal, on October 13, 2009 18:37

Interesting idea, Sean. Semi-transparent could work, but it also could be annoying to type on. Is it possible to make it only be this way when the text input area is not active? (So clicking on the note panel but outside the text area would make it semitransparent.) – Qrystal, on October 13, 2009 18:25

Wow, your Chrome is shinier than mine, and I'm in the beta stream (now on v3.0.195.27). You must have Chromium, which is the developer's version of Chrome, also known as 'dev channel'. – Qrystal, on October 13, 2009 17:56

Oh, now I have to wonder if I might've set up mp3s to auto-open with Chrome.

To see if that option is what needs to be set up, try clicking on the arrow at the right edge of the "downloading file" box at the bottom of the browser, and select something like, "always open this type of file".

The chime is still working fine in Chrome on Windows Vista. Haven't checked on my XP box in awhile though. – Qrystal, on October 13, 2009 12:46

I just tried something:

I right-clicked and saved a copy of my company logo.
Then I re-uploaded it, hoping to refresh how it's stored within Paymo.

Alas, it didn't work. Was worth trying, though!

Sorry, have been really busy. It's just a minor visual thing so I wasn't in a rush.

My company icon is still visible on the Settings page, just not on the widget. I tried redownloading just now, and it's still not working.

I downloaded the upgrade moments before noticing and reporting the problem.

Just redownloaded... still no company logo.

v3.0.7 still hasn't implemented this, and I I know it may sound really minor but it feels so awkward and inconvenient that it is missing.

Please, put a link to open mydomain.paymo.biz, in my default browser, directly from the widget and/or the taskbar menu!

After I upgraded the widget to 3.0.7 (in Windows Vista), my company icon is no longer loading properly -- I get the "broken image" graphic.

Oh, I would definitely not want to change the simple click to hide and unhide, just what was seen while the hiding was active. I totally understand if you'd want to save it for a later step, because I'm really excited to have categories at all! :) – Qrystal, on September 01, 2009 21:59
