Chris Campbell replied on September 09, 2009 17:14 to the question "Why am I having a hardtime getting SharpReader to be my default rss feed reader with flock 2.5.2?" in Flock:
Hi Frank,
Please try this:
(1) Go to Tools / Options
(2) Click on the Content tab
(3) Click the button labeled "Choose your preferred reader..."
(4) This takes you to the Applications tab with "Web Feed" selected. From there you should be able to choose another application.
Does that work for you?

Hi AngryTechnician,
You're right. It looks like RSS 2.0 and in fact on closer examination the dates used in the ArsTechnica feed look to be a compliant date format for RSS 2.0... however the JavaScript Date.parse() function is stumbling on it. I've filed a bug here:
https://bugzilla.flock.com/show_bug.c...
Thanks for pointing it out. :)

Hi NothingsSomething,
The forum you link to regarding Adblock Plus is out of date.
Adblock Plus works fine in Flock, as do most Firefox extensions. You can install it from their official site here:

Chris Campbell replied on May 19, 2009 21:09 to the question "Flock 2.5 userAgent Value Issue" in Flock:
Hi Steve,
It was done intentionally because we were having too many reports of websites not working in Flock, even though they worked in Firefox. Many sites have browser detection that tells anyone not using a known recent major browser version to upgrade, so for instance some Flock user were being told to "upgrade to IE6 or later" in order to view some sites!
The ideal way to deal with this would be to convince all those sites to adjust their browser detection for Flock. But that would take a lot of convincing. We're a small company with relatively limited resources compared to the other major browsers. We thought our users would be better served by us continuing to improve Flock, instead. So we simplified our UA string to basically be the same as Firefox.

Hi Andreas,
Good catch, and you're exactly right about the fix too. We've filed the bug, posted a fix for review, and it should make it in to the 2.5.1 release:

Thanks!

Frank,
It sounds like there may be a problem with your Flash player. Try installing the latest version of Flash from here:
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Or if that doesn't work, another user on these forums has kindly posted an alternative method of reinstalling Flash for Flock:
http://willyd357.blogspot.com/2009/05...
Do the videos work after doing that?

Chris Campbell replied on May 10, 2009 17:02 to the question "Flock crash at startup. APPDATA folder is empty!" in Flock:
Hi JJules,
There is a known bug in 2.0.3 where sometimes you can get a corrupted search index that causes this crash. The bug is fixed in the upcoming next release of Flock, but in the meantime you can get it working again by following these steps:
(1) Quit Flock entirely
(2) Locate your profile folder
(3) Delete the folder called "lucene" contained therein
(4) Restart Flock
That should get it working again. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Chris Campbell replied on May 10, 2009 16:57 to the question "TROJAN INFECTING MY PC WHEN DOWNLOADING FLOCK" in Flock:
Hi Maria,
As long as you are downloading Flock from the official http://flock.com/ website, you don't have to worry about it containing a trojan or virus or anything.
However, sometimes anti-virus software mistakenly says that Flock contains a trojan. When this happens, we need to contact the anti-virus vendor to sort out the issue.
So could you please tell me which anti-virus software you are using?
In the meantime, you can still install Flock by temporarily disabling your anti-virus software during the install, and then re-enabling it afterwards.

Hi Jack,
There is a bug in Flock 2.0.3 that can sometimes lead to corruption of your flock-data.sqlite file. This is fixed in the upcoming next release of Flock, but for now you will have to follow these steps to get it working again:
(1) Quit Flock entirely
(2) Locate your profile folder
(3) Rename the file flock-data.sqlite to something like OLD-flock-data.sqlite
(4) Restart Flock
It should work after following those steps, but let us know if you continue to have problems.
Regards,
