Yeah i see it now, but the groups aren't available as a menuchoice, because i don't see a navigation to groups. I think groups are just for NING but not for its creators? I think creators can create a group? Anyway, still pending approval after 8 hours :(

A comment on the question "A limit to profilequestions" in Ning:

I don't understand a lot of NING's strange actions, obviously NING still has to mature and grow up, because how can you decide for your users what's good for them?

Every social network has different needs, different people and different niches, how can NING the create just ONE MODEL for ALL?

For example i don't understand why they take away certain features, like from the beginning the tagclouds we had, and direct upload of backgroundpictures for modules, stuff like that.

Now we have to do that with CSS, while it was SO freakin' easy for us to Just upload them from the look and feel editor, really, this is crap... why do they make things more dificult when it wás EASY?

What i think is that NING should keep more polls and see the public opinion about certain new features that they have in mind, they should ask their users wether they WANT this feature or NOT? Is it what we NEED? Do we WANT this for OUR network?

Also all network creators need abillity to opt-in for new features and not opt-out, se wé, as the networkcreators can decide for ourselves wether we want this 'fantastic new feature' or not!!!

I agree with you Alex, all the major social networks have more then 10 profile questions, and ofcourse we should not make áll profilequestions mandatory.

A comment on the question "A limit to profilequestions" in Ning:

I still don't understand why NING decides for us what's best. They should LET US decide, no matter if we want 10000 profilequestions. 10 just isn't enough.

The biggest Social Network in Holland (hyves) has loads and loads of profilequestions, profilepages on Hyves also have another structure, for example n the main profilepage you see a small summary of personal information, like: 'Male, Female, Age, Location' but ech section on the profile has a link named 'Read More', this is if you WANT to read more about this person, this gives a better and complete profile with more information about the member in question.

Sometimes you just like to add something to it, but you can't, and if you do, you have to delete other important profilequestions.

I think NING is not taking it's network creators seriously, because if they did, they would be more democratic and allow network creators to decide for themselves and not act like the fatherly god who 'knows what's best'.

I also believe they should restructure the profilepages. On the mainpage we should have a small summary, and in each section a 'read more' link, o we won't have to scroll so much and if we want to read more about this person, we cán.

I very much dissagree with J.P. who ALWAYS agrees with NING. Some people tink this is just negative whining, but it isn't, these are just suggestions to make things (in my opinion) better. You don't have to agree with me. – Zohra, on November 04, 2009 17:10

Recently i created a twitter-style microblog 4 NING Social Network Creators.

It's a brandnew site , so it doesnt have a lot of active members yet, so please bare with me...

NINGSHOUTS allows you to send 300 character 'tweets' about your NING SOCIAL NETWORK. The nice thing about this social network is that we are all Ning Network Creators all together who like to promote our social networks and discuss things regarding NING or to promote items on your NING social Networks.

So, just like Twitter, you will have to add 'followers' (subscribers on this website) in order to get noticed, you can find them in the member list, but, since it;s a new site you won't find a lot of members (YET) so please, be patient and wait until the network grows a bit. But, you can already start tweeting and share your stuff there!

NINGSHOUTS Is a wonderful way to Network amongst all other Ning network creators and share your stuff, opinions, blogs, videos and photos, just give it a try, it's free and it won't bite ya :)

When joining the network, please complete your profile, along with your Ning social networks adress in it, tell something about your social network and add an avatar and your own nng network style to your personal page and start tweeting. Inactive accounts won't be very interesting to follow, so please add some stuff in your profile and send some tweets already!

Wix is very easy and userfriendly... you can build an entire site in a widget and paste it anywhere you like...

Hi Matt,

You can make it as large as you wish, because when you put it in to a textbox or a page on your ning network, ning will resize it automatically!

With the proper use of Wix, you can create a cool widget and have it serve as a miniwebsite in a textbox or a page :)

I used to use Sprout but they got so damn expensive and asking ridiculous prices that i started searching and found Wix and its so much better and cooler then Sprout :)

LOL Xena, i use the BLENDAPPS chat, it's an embeddable widget suitable for NING. Actually it's a USERPLANE webcamchat that's fixed for NING by Blendapps. Try it at www.blendapps.com it's a really cool one.

they don't have privatechat yet but it's on the roadmap...

I added it to a page inside my social network and members love it!

It's not my intention to spam or anything, just wanted to let you know that there is now a Microblog (twitterstyle) where all networkcreators can join and start tweeting about their NING social networks!

This microblog is for networking amongst NING NC's and discuss issues regarding NING!
