A comment on the idea "Design feedback needed on Notes feature." in Snooty Monkey:
I respectfully disagree :). It would consume way too much screen real estate, especially when you can see the notes in a fraction of a second by just hovering over the icon. But well... that's just my opinion ;). – Tijl Kindt, on April 05, 2009 02:33

Tijl Kindt reported a problem in Snooty Monkey on February 18, 2009 11:03:
Planning bubbles are behaving as if they had been shift-clickedIt seems that when you're planning your day, the application behaves as if you're holding the Shift-key, i.e. it plans ranges of bubbles, unless you just unplanned a bubble. To reproduce, click a random bubble in the future and click another bubble in the same activity one hour further. Now unplan one of the bubbles and plan another bubble again some time later. In the first case you'll notice the application planned a range of bubbles, whereas in the second case it only planned the bubble you clicked.

Good idea. My suggestions:
1. Only collapse the daily goal and the weekly goal columns, but not the totals.
2. Collapse both at the same time, and not individually, because that's too much hassle in my opinion
3. When a column is collapsed, keep a single '>', '=', or '<' visible in red, green or yellow to efficiently show that you are still under or already over that goal.
4. It should not require a reload. Reloads are evil.
A comment on the idea "Add average hours per day to graph" in Snooty Monkey:
It seems the average is being taken over the last 8 days, not the last 7 days. In the graph you also see 8 columns, not 7. I did not sleep more than 9 hours per night in the past 7 days :P. – Tijl Kindt, on February 12, 2009 13:48

That seems like a pretty neat and sensible idea actually! Me likes!
As for the half a bubble thing, isn't that exactly why it's possible to bubble two activities at once? It seems that you're more wishing for a change in the calculation of the total amount of hours, than that you actually want to bubble half a bubble... or am I wrong?

Done, though of course it can still be tweaked in how heavily it favours consecutive time on an activity... – Tijl Kindt, on February 04, 2009 09:59

An optional pop-up might be appreciated by some, but that totally depends on how strict you are or want to be with your own goals. Everybody's different in that regard. I wouldn't want to see a pop-up, but... maybe the bubbles could subtly grow redder/yellower and greener as you evolve towards and/or over your goals, just like with the visualization report?
Or is that too much color? :D

"Overall though, I can't help but think that the same information is provided by glancing at the bubbled-in areas themselves already."
I agree with Qrystal's comment here. The sparkline is faster to process in your brain since you're looking at the full 24 hours instead of just 8 as with the bubbled-in areas, but when I'm just looking at today, I just find that I look at my bubbles when I want to see what I did and not at the sparkline.
HOWEVER, I just thought of something else... What if you would create a sparkline for each activity AVERAGED over a range of days (say a week or a month). This could complement the productivity heat map by not only showing when you're productive, but also showing when you tend to do each activity... Is that an idea?
As for Flash, I don't really mind Flash. It's better if it works without flash, but if that's what better graphs require then so be it. My online calendar is flash as well, so I don't really mind.
