wow someone else cares? wahoo!
and I did find another blog that this issue occurs on, it was the blog linked to in the "New Private Beta Opening Aug 24!" post, http://www.viewfromafarley.com/
Validation page: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=htt...(detect+automatically)&doctype=Inline&group=0
that blog uses the Wordpress IntenseDebate plugin with the comments on the front page, and "posttitle" is after an "&".
this link documents the solution: http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/validat...
I am excited to see all the secret new features in the new WP IntenseDebate Plugin. I can't really think of anything that could be done better (except maybe XHTML validation lol). but all that is an unrelated topic.

I'm with mattindy77. I've used TwitterSync for ages, and I've been very happy with its settings which allow me to change my prepend verb. (I like " twitters: ") Until more robust settings are included in Ping.fm for all services, AND until Facebook gets it together and creates this setting for status updates, can't this idea please be integrated into the current Ping.fm Facebook app?
I signed up to Ping.fm today because I love the idea, and because TwitterSync depends on TwitterIM which has been broken for more than a month. But...if this kind of checkbox-setting-customization idea can't be implemented here, I will go back to the standard Twitter Facebook app (though I'll be very sad).

Well, its not ping.fm's problem at all, as if you were to write that same mesage in facebook you'd get the same result. if there was a "says" prefix then you wrote an action as a ping you'd get:
Suchnsuch says "is doing his homework"
Solution: is to have either in the edit section of each network a prefix option
BEST SOLUTION:
a verb detector to prefix 'is' or 'has' and if "not" is 1st word prefix 'is' or 'was'
all other words i guess you could add ' says "' or a predetermined default prefix and a suffix of a quotation mark
EDIT:
Maybe even an advanced verb/sentence detector say you typed "been to the park" been is detected as a past action prefixing "has" present actions will be "is" future actions "will"?
as for when to prefix says... put quotation marks at start and end?
seems most logical to me.

Sounds good, since this bug has been stopping me using ping.fm to post to twitter (I use the "Statuses" selection to post to plurk & facebook - But I want to post to places like twitter and tumblr with "Micro-Blogs"). Please hurry! – Cameron Moon, on June 16, 2008 01:45

Thanks, Sean! This has been driving me crazy ever since I realized what was happening! How long do you think it'll be before this option will be available? – [jo]ann, on June 12, 2008 04:12

Love to see the settings available for Facebook. It's an odd inconsistency of features. – pb30, on June 12, 2008 02:06
