I use a mixer and a separate music source. This source can be another computer, an iPod or classic source like a tape deck. Because this is NOT a USB mixer, you can find them new for around $100 and used for much less.
You connect a mic to one input. Optionally up to two other mics for in studio guests. Sound source to another channel. Output to your PC/Mac. Now you need to be able to hear everything, so you can use the following setup:
Connect the "effects send" of the mixer to the line input of your PC sound card (or line/mic in on the Mac).
Bring the line output from your computer back to the mixer through the "effects return".
Connect earphones to the mixer earphone jack.
Then all you need is the softphone mentioned earlier.
This is what I use for the VoIP Users Conference (#22622) and the New Wine Consumer (#11888) and it has worked for over two years on both.
I also recommend vEmotion as a backup.
Enjoy!

I don't know why I didn't post this earlier, but I did eventually hear from Dave Nelsen who got the job done. Because the shows are in a database, there's no reason why this would be complicated. They were moved intact and retain the same numbers and links. I hope some day there will be a way to have dual host controls.
Thanks Dave, I hope Talkshoe eventually gets funding and brings back revenue sharing as this helped power my efforts to put more into Kiva.org-

randulo replied on July 31, 2008 03:38 to the question "How to Un Subscribe from DIDX" in DIDX:
Rehan,
I know you're a good person. I had to finally reach you through the Asterisk Users list to find someone to get my name off. Why is this hard to understand: you MUST have an easy way to remove yourself from a mailing list, because I never used an account. I had no access to it. If there was an unsubscribe link in any of those mails I used it and it didn't work. I'll always give a company a chance or two, but it took many, many attempts to reach someone at DIDX.
Every company that uses elmail needs to learn what a bogus thing it is to keep ignoring requests to be removed from a list, especially a list one never signed up for.
Profile section? Every message needs a link since I couldn't het to a profile section with no account. Every account needs a way to be deleted, too.
The problem is solved, plus it was solved weeks ago under the same name, randulo on the list.
No need to answer this. I would like to see you beef up your respect for the unsubscribe link, put it in every message and please make sure it works. Try it out for yourself.

I'm sorry to say this is not really helpful, Josh.
I need someone at Talkshoe to move a whole show with 100+ episodes to a different host owner while retaining all the same numbers. I can't believe this is not easy for someone with access to the database. The problem is, with the Get Satisfaction setup for support is that every request is public so it can't be evaluated properly.
This fall, I will be reaching the end of my second year as a Talkshoe supporter. Unfortunately, there is less and less to say about how great it is. Many of the best aspects are fading away quickly at a time when other services like Calliflower are starting to appear.
The community seems to be breaking up as well, whether due to the sudden end of month announcement in May that payments were stopped or just a general weariness.

Moving one show to a different hostI'd like to move one of my conference calls to a new host identity. Since "support" doesn't work and DaveN hasn't answered, can anyone help here on the "official support" channel?

ah, well, if the database is the cause that's sort of "reassuring". Glad to hear back Josh. (God I detest using Getsatisfaction for tech support!) – randulo, on July 18, 2008 18:57

Trouble with 22622I am unable to control 22622, it just keeps reloading. I was able to start a different show but I can not regain control of 22622. It is two hours after the beginning so it should have died on its own by now.

Way to manage via a list of shotsIs there a way to get a list of screen shots to manage them (as in delete a bunch by checking boxes?). I just deleted 4 no longer needed and had to go to each one for the delete link. Maybe I missed this feature?

A comment on the question "disruptive caller" in TalkShoe:
The point is, you unmute a person once. If they screw around and call back they won't get in until you unmute. I recommend you mute all callers now and unmute them by hand as they come in.
Also, encourage all callers to register with Talkshoe, it's good for you and it's good for Talkshoe. – randulo, on July 03, 2008 14:34

randulo asked a question in Blogger & Podcaster on June 07, 2008 07:04:
Is Blogger & Podcaster Guide a scam? Why did bloggerandpodcaster.com charge me another $5 when my account was cancelled? It was clear that they received the first request as it was "pending cancellation" for a week or more. Then they conveniently forgot and charged again. Repeated emails to them have had no reply. Now I'll have to waste time and contact my bank.
They also ignore the state of the subscription checkbox, putting back to "yes I want to subscribe" no matter what you do with it.
