    Problem Editing a Note
Editing a Note converts it to an email message. Here are steps to repro (note: I am using my MobileMe acct):

    - In Mac Mail, create a simple Note and save it. As you might expect, you can edit this note as often as you like.
    - Switch to Postbox and you will see the Note displayed in the Notes folder.
    - At this point, you cannot directly type into the Note to edit it like in Mail. So click on the Edit button at top of the Note and make some edits. When done, click on the Save button.
    - Now switch over to Mail. In the Notes folder, you will see the updated Note, however, it no longer has a Note icon next to it. And if you open up the Note, you are no longer able to edit it. I believe that Postbox erroneously converted the note to an email message.

I'm not sure I follow you about the last sentence. What steps are you taking? Are you able to click the New Message btn, type some text and hit Send with it going out as HTML?

For some reason, that is not working for me. If I set this option in Preferences, should I see it reflected in the Options->Format menu when I create a new message? For me, this always shows Auto-Detect. I am wondering if my internal settings got messed up? For example, there was a thread to set the display font using a userChrome.css file. I don't seem to have that installed. Where should it be located? Maybe the install wasn't complete for me? If so, is there a way to redo this?

    Thanks again...Randy

Mine works fine. Yes, you need to change your port to 587. Here are my settings:

    Server Name: smtp.me.com
    Port: 587
    Secure Authentication: No
    Secure Connection: STARTTLS

Yes, I am aware of that option. But I don't want to have to do this every time I compose a new message (I certainly won't remember to do this every time). There should be a default setting for this in Preferences.

    Thanks...Randy

Hi Scott. Thanks for the quick reply. To be more clear on the issue I was making. If you look at the sent message header, you will see that it is as follows:

    Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

However, I was expecting the message to be sent as HTML when I selected the "Send the message in HTML anyways". So it should have following in header:

    Content-Type: multipart/alternative

I think this would happen regardless of what is in the message, even if it is just a one word text message. Maybe I am confused by what this setting is supposed to do, but if so the description should probably be changed because the behavior does not follow the description currently. And if the behavior is as expected, I would love to submit an ER where my message is "always" sent as HTML (Rich) regardless of whether I format or not (which is what Outlook does).

    Thanks...Randy

    Messages not sent as HTML
One of the biggest problems folks have and hate about MacMail is that it does not send new email messages as HTML unless you explicitly do something to alter the Font (this is a known bug that Apple refuses to address). I always want to have my email sent as HTML. So I tried setting the Text Format dropdown to "Send the message in HTML anyway" in the Send Options dialog (in Preferences). Unfortunately, it is still sent as text when you compose a new email and just type text in the body without explicitly changing the font. Microsoft Outlook and Entourage both send as HTML when you tell it to. Why can't Postbox?
