High cpu usage while you are on video call is totally normal, because video encoding and decoding is quite cpu intensive task.
So I'd say having high cpu usage is not a problem, but having a laggy and bad video quality on suchs computer is a valid problem.
Is the bad quality happening always with every contact? If yes then please report a technical issue to us with logfiles, then we can find out from there what is causing the bad video quality.

I will give you some information when messages will not go through and how to solve it.
First of all messages will get delivered only when you and other participants on this group conversation are online at the same time. It is not needed that everyone is online at the same time, but some of the participants need to be.
In case you all are online at the same time, is there a change that you all are in same local area network? If yes then please all upgrade to latest version of Skype for Windows or Mac, we have fixed there issues which sometimes caused message delivery problems inside LAN.
If none of these tips help then try to make a short call to one participant of the group conversation who is online at this time, it should trigger message sending and receiving.
Can you please let me know how many persons you have on this group conversation?

We have fixed this issue in yesterday released hotfix version of Skype 4.0 for Windows.
Please upgrade your Skype to 4.0.0.224

Hi,
Thanks for posting.
During our investigations yesterday we found out that this issue happens only when you have Skype in Hebrew localization.
As a temporary workaround I would suggest you to switch Skype localization to any other language you know and then restart Skype. All your contacts should be back then.
We are working on fixing it.
