Ray replied on December 18, 2009 18:57 to the question "Looking for database information for importing a room schedule into carousel" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Hi Nick,
Ad Astra, and Dean Evans Event Management Systems (which is what those SQL settings are for) use Microsoft's SQL Server, so unfortunately the communication wouldn't work with your mySQL database.
One possible way to get your room schedule information from mySQL to Carousel would be a script in PHP or ruby to generate an RSS feed. You could then create an RSS bulletin of your room schedule.
**Edit**
Also JJ has a blog post here: about using an iCal feed for the room schedule bulletins. A script that could make an iCal feed from your mysql database would also work.

Hey Grant,
I'm not sure what Jeremy uses to do our training videos, but if your on a mac I've been using iShowU which works pretty well, they also have a newer product as well for HD.

For a bit more money there is ScreenFlow which I've used a demo of. It has some nice features, but I didn't really need them for what I'm doing.

Ray replied on December 16, 2009 22:07 to the question "Intermittent glitches in video/audio file playback from SX4 server." in Tightrope Media Systems:
Hi Jon,
Rpiekar is correct. It is not advisable to do video encoding the SX servers, and a consequence may be jittery playback. If you need encode something that is on the content drive of the SX, conisder making it a network share and run MPEGStreamclip on a networked computer.
If you still notice jittery playback, by all means open up a support ticket at:

There click on the Create on official trouble ticket... link.

Ray replied on December 14, 2009 20:09 to the question "How do I include an image in an RSS bulletin where the image URL is an attribute of a tag, not the contents of a tag?" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Hi Nick,
I took your feed and got the image blocks working, here is what I did:
1) Take an RSS bulletin template and add a Web Picture Block. This can be done in the template editor.

2) Use the #ItemImageURL# rss field in the Web Picture Block to display the image.

Here is a really quick ugly slide to show it works:

(created from your RSS feed)
A couple of gotchas to look out for.
1) The images aren't all the same size, so design your slide accordingly
2) When making the slide, Carousel sees three image fields. #ItemImageURL#, #ItemImageURL1#, and #ItemImageURL2# Not all of the items in the feed have 3 images. Most only have one so I would stick with just using #ItemImageURL#
Hope this is what you were looking for.

Ray replied on December 14, 2009 16:59 to the question "Is there a way to simulcast a program being played from an SX4 system?" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Hi Marcus.
TRMS makes a SX Live Server which can live stream your channel to the internet.
Some info about the SX Live can be found here:
http://www.trms.com.s3.amazonaws.com/...
Hope this is what you were looking for.

I'm a dope sometimes. I had the wrong date format string. It was using the numerical month instead of the day which is why it kept spitting out December 12. Its fixed now. The changes are on my github page: github.com/raytiley – Ray, on December 14, 2009 03:03

Ray replied on December 13, 2009 23:20 to the question "How do I encode a live feed to my SX server?" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Hi Dustin,
There are a couple of ways to record live feeds into your SX.
One such way is to do a Record Run.
To setup this kind of recording event you would first create a new show record that uses a live format from a live source (such as a Satellite or Studio Feed).

Next schedule the show when its going to be on, and click the Details Link

Check Record Run towards the bottom. This will enable you to choose an encoding device. Choose the Encoder on your SX Server.

That will record the run of that show. After the show is recorded change the format of the show to your SX Server's format and now you can re air the show.
A Different Approach
If you don't want to record a show as its being aired, but just want to schedule a record event you can do that in the Record Tab of your Schedule.

Here click New and then click the No Name Specified to setup the record event.

Now fill in the details. My picture got a little crowded with arrows but its pretty self explanatory.

All this and more can be found in the Cablecast Manual which you can find here:
http://www.trms.com.s3.amazonaws.com/...
Hope this helps.

Ray replied on December 11, 2009 22:19 to the question "Text Block Disappears" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Hi Tyler,
Sorry your having issues. I'm trying to recreate your issue here but I can't seem to do it.

Can you tell me what version of Carousel your running? You can find this by clicking on "about" in the upper right hand window of Carousel.

Also so I can see if I can recreate the issue here can you send me a bulletin package of that bulletin. You can create the package by clicking the copy icon next to the bulletin and then choose "A bulletin package"

You can email that file to ray.tiley@trms.com
Thanks

Ray replied on December 11, 2009 01:23 to the question "Installing control modules on computers for purpose of syncing time." in Tightrope Media Systems:
I just wanted to let everyone know that this works like a charm. With every autopilot send the clock syncs on the machine in our Control Room. Here are some screen shots of how I set it up.
1) Install the control modules on the machine that needs to be synced. You get this install package when you upgrade Cablecast. It does require that the .NET framework be installed on the machine. You can download the .NET framework here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/de...
2) Create a new Control Module Host. This can be found Main Menu -> System Settings -> Control Module Hosts

3) Next create a generic Control Module Set for the host you just created. Main Menu -> Location Settings -> I/O -> Control Module Sets

Now you have perfect time on your other critical machines without having to worry about windows time sync.

A comment on the question "Automatic display of weather warnings?" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Hey Patrick,
Sorry its not working as planned. The weatheralert.heroku feed just parses a feed from NOAA.gov. So there isn't much I can do.
If you find a good RSS feed though, setting up an RSS bulletin like I showed above should get you there.
Good Luck.

Ray replied on December 10, 2009 19:49 to the question "Weather Bulletin Error" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Hi
My immediate thought is that your server is not corrected properly to the internet. This would explain the 'api.wxbug.net' not resolved error. Basically Carousel is complaining that it can't connect to WeatherBug to look up the weather for your zip.
First thing would be to check your internet connection by opening a web browser on your server and trying to navigate to a site such as trms.com or google.com
If this doesn't work, than we have confirmed that your server is not on the internet. Check your settings, or get someone from your IT department to get that computer online and hopefully this will resolve your issue.
If you are properly on the internet, please open a support ticket with support@trms.com so we can get this taken care of for you.
Thanks

Lance,
To 'repeat nearly everything' you could use the Carousel Clone Tool. This allows you to copy and re-implement an entire channel.
More on the tool can be found on page 177 section 20 of the Carousel manual which can be found here:
