Ryan D Johnson set one of Ryan D Johnson's replies as an official response to "Wont connect to Gtalk on Infinite SMS" in innerfence
Ryan D Johnson replied on February 15, 2009 04:58 to the question "Wont connect to Gtalk on Infinite SMS" in innerfence:
Email accounts like user@googlemail.com do not work with Infinite SMS right now. It appears that we need to do something special in the app to deal with that case, since it works differently from normal gmail.com or Google Apps for Your Domain accounts.

I would have never guessed that things worked differently in the UK in Germany.
Thanks so much for helping me figure it out. If you hadn't been so persistent it would have been really difficult.
I created the account as discussed and tested it from Infinite SMS. Go ahead and change the password and try it out.
Thanks again!

Wow. I think that's the problem.
I've tried it here and I can't get it to work either. It's very odd, it does connect and authenticate, but then the connection just drops when you try to do anything.
I think it's because of this extension that I may need to implement:
http://code.google.com/apis/talk/jep_...
This probably means that until I have it fixed we should take Infinite SMS off sale in the UK and Germany.
In the meantime, why don't I create a new gmail account for you that you can use?

Hi, Eric.
We're working on the update now. We'll be submitting something Sunday night or Monday morning, but then it has to go through the Apple review process. We can't really say how long that process will take, but based on our other apps it's taking a while right now, about a week.
I'm not sure where you would want to put backgrounds?
Ryan D Johnson replied on February 15, 2009 04:17 to the idea "GREAT APP, 2 ideas:" in innerfence:
Hi, Brent.
Sorry. Google has recently added the email address to each message you send. I'm not quite sure why they decided to do that, but there's not really anything we can do about it in Infinite SMS. You could try submitting some feedback directly to Google to see if they would think about changing it.

Here's something that worked for someone else.
They were having similar symptoms to you, and unlocking their account fixed it.
Here's the page:
Another possibility is that the account might be locked. You can unlock it with a captcha here:

Hi, amanisfly.
I'm a little bit stumped if it's working in beejive.
The specific error you're seeing is only encountered when Infinite SMS has successfully connected to Google Talk, but authentication with your username and password failed. There's very little else that can be wrong other than that the username or password is incorrect or the account isn't enabled for Google Talk.
These are really my only ideas:
• Make sure you've entered your full address (user@gmail.com)
• Try a simple alphanumeric password (no punctuation or special characters)
• Try a brand new account
It's hard to think of what might be different or special about your account. We honestly have many hundreds of users and nobody else has had this problem and had it turn out not to just be a typo'd username or password.
Sorry I don't have any super-great ideas.

Is it possible there's a firewall on your wireless network? That would explain why beejive and Infinite SMS can't connect but the web-based talk works. Web-based google talk just uses normal web ports (like port 80), but directly using google talk like beejive and infinite sms uses a different port (5222, i think).
