reefdog replied on September 14, 2009 14:38 to the idea "Allow customers who have bought content in standard definition (TV Shows and Films) to upgrade them to HD, by paying the difference between the SD and HD versions." in Apple:
Absolutely. The lack of HD availability of Pixar films in particular is annoying. I'd buy the SD versions now, however, if I knew I could later upgrade them to HD (for less-than-full pricing).
Apple showed with the iTunes Plus upgrade options that they're willing to treat upgrades as a value-added feature of digital media. I really hope this perspective transfers to their video media as well!-

Steven, can I infer from your comment that SizeUp *should* be Snow Leopard compatible? My Snow Leopard copy comes in later this week, and I'm literally just about to register SizeUp, but want to make sure the two will play along. Thanks! – reefdog, on September 02, 2009 13:23

reefdog reported a problem in Ballpark on July 29, 2009 03:30:
Incorrect confirmation text when deleting an invoice. When you delete an invoice, the JavaScript confirmation dialog asks "Are you sure you want to delete this estimate?" Probably means to say "...this invoice?"
A comment on the question "Customization" in Ballpark:
"We're working on new ways for people to customize their invoices and estimate [...]"
In the meantime, is there at least a way to denote payment remittance information on an invoice? I'm used to at least having my mailing address and EIN on invoices, and I can't see a logical place to do that (short of shoehorning it into the note field). – reefdog, on July 29, 2009 03:13
A comment on the idea "Un-favorite Tweets that have been Favorited" in atebits:
Josh, that *somewhat* validates Spec's point: a company's support staff shouldn't be MIA on account of a dev conference. Of course, it is hard to keep up with the deluge of support requests that GS seems to trigger, but to Spec's point, it looks like Atebits is starting to outgrow its current support staff (which I'd speculate is just the devs).
Better to add staff when pinched than waste money up front, so these growing pains are perfectly understandable, but it sucks to feel 'em. – reefdog, on June 15, 2009 15:20

Previous commenters: I understand how it can look like Atebits is intentionally prioritizing new features over bug fixes, but that's not quite how development works. If they were already neck-deep in the video commenting system by the time they realized un-favoriting needed work, it may have been more trouble to branch off the earlier code, fix the bug, and merge it all back than to simply finish the current feature and then move on to the bug. (I'm calling it a bug, though really it's a missing feature.)
I'm not saying you guys don't have a right to complain or express your frustration, but characterizing it as a priority issue isn't quite accurate -- at least, it's not obviously accurate. That may be the case, but just because Feature X was released before Feature Y doesn't mean it was higher priority; there are other developmental considerations, like is Feature Y the extension of a system that's being rewritten and not yet ready, etc.
Just a little balance from a dev's perspective. :) (Not *the* dev's perspective; I'm not atebits or anything.)-

reefdog replied on May 05, 2009 21:32 to the problem "More Dedication to Blinksale." in Blinksale:
@Josh: Thanks for letting us know development is still happening, but like others in this thread, I'm eager to know what and when.
Let me rephrase that: your development schedule is your business, but your customers have grown terribly spoiled by Blinksale-like apps (Basecamp, et al) and the overabundance of communication you see from those developers: blog posts, tweets, mini-updates, etc. I feel like Blinksale/Firewheel operates behind closed doors.
Perhaps that's your intent, and perhaps I'm just spoiled, but it really does provide some comfort to us paying customers – okay, /formerly/ paying customers, as I'm back to the free plan for a while – to see momentum happening behind the scenes. Shoot, it could be the results of your intra-office ping-pong tournament, just something so we know you haven't all died.
And yes, Blinksale is in need of a few improvements, and we'd love to see (visible) incremental improvements more often than twice a year. ;)
Cheers man. I'm sure you guys are working hard, but take a break to post to the blog or something once in a while! :)
