Thanks. It's indeed useful and I didn't notice this button before... – Regis, on December 07, 2009 14:50
Regis asked a question in Balsamiq on December 03, 2009 19:29:
Set a height to a buttonWould it be possible to adjust the size of a button vertically? It often occurs that we need to have a big huge button on a window, and the default current button does not allow that.
A comment on the idea "Automatically add a header and a footer to generated images" in Balsamiq:
Thanks Marco. The post you've indicated is a good starter. I think it could be developed quickly and be a good patch while waiting for other external components you are talking about.
Thanks again for your reply. – Regis, on November 26, 2009 16:47
A comment on the idea "Border for image component" in Balsamiq:
I've noticed the same behaviour but I think it's how the feature has been coded. It would be surprising that we can have the original once the image has been cropped. – Regis, on November 09, 2009 14:07

It works and does what we want :-)
The only "problem" is that, by default, when I load an image, the Show Border is checked even though there is no border at first. Thus I need two clicks to actually have a border: 1 click to disable the border and 1 other click to reactivate the border. By default, it should be unchecked.
Thanks Peldi.
A comment on the idea "Cursor shouldn't stay in the Quick add field after adding a control" in Balsamiq:
Yep I send something. I've added a ZIP file as there is an "assets" folder attached to this BMML and I guess this is why it has been "blocked" or something. Should I try without the asset file? – Regis, on October 26, 2009 14:04

Automatically add a header and a footer to generated imagesHello,
First of all, I think this idea is a little bit far-fetched but well...
In a professionnal context, we often need to add a title, logos of the clients for whom we do the wireframes, add the version number, the date and so on...
The idea would be to automatically add, when we generate the image corresponding to the wireframe, a header and a footer to the image. In that header, a logo (that we choose) would be automatically added, as well as a title (name of the file ?), the date and eventually the version number.
I do that for every single wireframe and it's quite time consuming :-)
The only problem I see with that feature, is that it would be quite a challenge to make it customizable without the need of a preferences panel... something Balsamiq has successfully avoided so far.
So Peldi and the community... what do you think :) ? If there is a positive feedback, we might work on a solution together...

That's be all I need, really, along with your first proposal above. – Regis, on October 02, 2009 21:16

Personnally I'm in the favor of letting user not many choices... however this is one of the things the user should be able to modify if he wants.
Your first proposal is a good one, Peldi. It'd definitely be an improvment.
What about also a new "tab" called "most commonly used?". I mean, in ALL projects we have to use:
- Dialog/window
- label
- images
- rectangles.

Cursor shouldn't stay in the Quick add field after adding a controlA small feature that annoys me, and perhaps others, is this:
- I click on the Quick Add box, and I type the control I want to load
- I select the component I want with the arrows and the Enter keys on my keyboard (way faster than the mouse)
- most of the time, I need to load a String object.
Instinctively, most of the time after having inserted a String object, I click on Enter to paste the text or to write some words in my control... but the focus remains on the Quick Add field... So I have to use my mouse to select the object I've just created.
I know that ANYWAY I will have to use the mouse to move the component where I want, but to me it seems more obvious to do the following:
1) create the string/label object
2) insert the right text in it
3) move the component where I want
instead of the following
1) create the string/label object
2) move the component where I want
3) insert the right text in it
The first solution appears being more productive and less time consuming than the second option.
I might be a totally subjective point of view but perhaps some other people feel the same...
A comment on the idea "Zoom Zoom" in Balsamiq:
In my very humble opinion, this is exactly how you will never have an answer from the company. This kind of threat never ends up with anything good. Unhappy with the software? That's life. Go elsewhere :-) – Regis, on August 26, 2009 13:32
