remin asked a question in Postbox, Inc. on December 03, 2009 08:25:
global virtual inboxMany of us have more then one inbox folders (imap / pop3 folders).
To view all new messages we have to click from inbox to inbox.
Would it be possible to create a global virtual inbox which let us see all messages in all inbox folders?
remin replied on December 02, 2009 08:43 to the question "Search in single folder" in Postbox, Inc.:
Normally I put my search term in the search box (Local Folders active).
Postbox switches automatically to "Search All Folders".
Then with the search term active I click on "Local Folders"
The next time when I do a new search it does not a search in "Local folders" but again it switches to "Search all Folders".
(that must be a bug?)
It does not remember the last search.

Search in single folderI'm trying to find a message in a specific folder using the search tab.
I opened the folder and put a search term (search_term*) in the search box but it searched all folders. Then I tried to switch to local folders but this does search only the inbox.
How can I find a message in a specific folder?
ps: a solution maybe a search parameter in the search box for folders.
lets say.. "search_term"* folder:"partial_foldername"

I think that the search in Postbox can be even better
p.e. searching two or more keywords in all headers and message body.
I would like a search box system to use simple characters to find messages.
p.e. b: --> body
f: --> from
t --> to
a --> after
b --> before
using the NOT (!) and OR (|) parameters.
p.e. b:computer b:dell f:bob a:2009/02/20 !b:sony
this means:
searching in all messages for messages with in the body the words computer + dell
message written by bob
after 2009/02/20
and without the word sony in the body text.

I uninstalled lightning but Postbox is still using 2-12%
Continuously.
What is it doing?
Is this a normal behaviour?
I have never seen that in older versions. – remin, on November 04, 2009 10:06

A comment on the idea "Add Redirect option to message options" in Postbox, Inc.:
found another one.
When the receiver does a reply of the bounced message, my email address is indicated in TO and not the email address of the original sender of the mail. – remin, on October 30, 2009 08:31
remin replied on October 30, 2009 07:39 to the idea "Add Redirect option to message options" in Postbox, Inc.:
Mailredirect does a few strange things:
- the send time of the redirect message is the time when the message came in (in inbox)
- the recipient in the send folder is not the name of the recipient but the name of the sender.
- mailredirect doesn't recognize addressbook adresses and can't use the history of email addresses uses in previous sent mail.
(missing i.m.o. an indication in the right click menu p.e. after Forward and Resend:
Forward
Resend
Redirect)

great. :-)
I used it a lot in Thunderbird.
Hope the creator will also add a link in Right Click menu. – remin, on October 27, 2009 16:36
A comment on the problem "Resend formatting problems" in Postbox, Inc.:
I tried this just before, with many different body text and always the same attachment.
Sometimes the formatting in Resend is correct, sometimes not.
I checked all emails with attachment in my Inbox.
The wrong formatting of messages starts in April this year (first postbox messages?).
p.e.
If I put this text in my message body with an attachment resend has a wrong formatting:
------------------------------------------------------------------
are the steps then:
1) compose a new message
2) open the attachments sidebar
3) drag a plain text attachment into the attachment bucket in the compose header bar.
4) send the message to yourself
5) select the message in the inbox and choose messages / resend
------------------------------------------------------------------
If I put this text in the message body with the same attachment resend has a correct formatting (please note that I copied the message from a message, I've seen that there is html code in your message div, a href etc.):
------------------------------------------------------------------

When I click on EDIT and resend has a wrong formatting the background is always dark gray.
When there is correct formatting, the background is white.
My attachment is a .docx file with non standard ascii characters like é,è,ò etc. – remin, on October 25, 2009 17:20

sorry, also the shortcuts do work (I activated "use ctrl in stead of Alt") – remin, on October 25, 2009 10:55

tnx :-)
Great release.
It takes some time before I'll see the tabs after starting postbox and the shortcuts don't work (1,2,3...9 to select tabs) but the coloring seems to work very well now. :-)
The submenus are working as well.
I can't see very well the name of the subfolders (is in dark red in stead of white). – remin, on October 25, 2009 10:38
