One of the great things about OS X apps is the consistent ui. This includes the monochrome icons in the menubar. However Skypes green menubar icon sticks out like a sore thumb. Can we please have the option of a monochrome menubar icon for OS X?

Disappearing Icons

Recently I noticed the icon for foobar2000 had disappeared. I started to submit a new one however stopped when I realized the icons for many of the popular audio/video players like Windows Media Player, Songbird and MediaMonkey have also disappeared. When something like this happens should we just shrug our shoulders and submit new ones or let you guys know?

Is it possible to have more than one team manager? Maybe up to three? That way you could insure that the creator of the team is able to manage everything without stripping the current manager of their privileges.

Multiple names for the same developer.

I've noticed some software families have multiple names for the same developer. A good example is Google. About half of the Google applications are under "Google Inc" where as the other half are under "Google". You'll find the same is true for Adobe, Yahoo, The GNU Free Software Foundation and many others. I actually like clicking on the developer link to see what other software said developer has produced. However that feature is less appealing when software families are under so many different names.

As a user what is the best way to help solve this problem? When editing software details should we lean toward a certain kind of developer name (like ones that end in Inc)?

Good question. We have no plans to transfer usage and software data to the production site. The beta is just to test if the tracker itself and the data it sends is working as it should.

I'm really happy you want to help with suggestions, but for now it would be lost time and effort.

If we submit icons, descriptions and flag duplicates will we see those changes reflected in the main website when the tracker goes public? Also, will we be able to merge our Linux beta tracker usage with that of our main profiles?

How about a "Featured Review" panel that would highlight a recent software review a member of the team wrote. A team with an interest in Open Source (for example) will probably write reviews for Open Source applications. This could help other members discover new software when viewing their team page.

The problem is usually a team is centered around a particular application or familly of applications yet many people will join the team who don't use said application at all. So you end up with overall usage that doesn't reflect the teams interests. – Jeremy, on January 23, 2009 10:46

One thing that annoys me is that team titles will often get cut off if they're longer than two small words. It would be nice if the title text was either smaller or dropped down to multiple lines.

How about giving group members the ability to vote on their favorite software used within the group. Eventually tallying up the votes in an area called "The Groups Top 5 Favorite Software" or something of that nature.
