A comment on the question "Why does the site feed for things like Hulu not work under Linux?" in Participatory Culture Foundation (Miro):
But the site feeds don't attempt to download anything. All they do is show the site, and play the Flash that's there. – Rene Horn, on March 14, 2009 05:49

This question is specifically for embedded Flash videos--not extracted videos. – Rene Horn, on February 28, 2009 09:12

Why does the site feed for things like Hulu not work under Linux? The new version, 2.0, has a site feed for websites like Hulu. Why is it not supported under Linux?

Well, I switched it to Gstreamer, and that didn't help at all.
As far as something being wrong w/my graphics card (Intel)--possible, but doubtful. It's not as though all the videos are messed up, just many of them, and there's nothing else that shows these symptoms. All the YouTube videos look just fine.
I just don't know what's going on.

The thing is, it's not just one feed. It's a whole bunch of them that are doing that. In the above two screenshots, GeekBrief and MIT's LabCast HD are there, but I also get it with Mobuzz, and some others that I can't remember.
Although now that you mentioned it, I went to their web sites and downloaded the videos directly, and the problems were still there.
Okay, I guess some of them must have some bad encoders or something.
It was happening to the Onion News Network, and Scam School for a little while, but it seems someone fixed them.
I guess I just need to contact them to let them know that there are some problems with the encoders or something.
Rene Horn reported a problem in Participatory Culture Foundation (Miro) on October 01, 2008 06:19:
Why are the colors all messed up and split apart? The colors on my downloaded videos are all messed up. It's like the reds, greens, and blues are all mis-positioned.
Does anyone know what might be going on with this? Is it a bug or do I have some setting somewhere that's incorrect?
I've included some screenshots of the problem too.
I thought maybe it was something with the playback, but I ran the videos from ~/.miro/Movies through VLC, and the colors were still messed up.
Oh, and this is with the Linux client (Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron), version 1.2.7 (r8083). This bug was also in the version that's currently in the Ubuntu repos--1.1.2-0ubuntu2. I don't know if this shows up on any other platform.
