    A fully rated answer requires more information. Products Ratings, alone, are a shallow answer - if there are missing clues for reasoning. Choices or feedback are usually wanted. People may need to be aware of certain factors to be able to use a product. Here are some examples of why more information is needed ...

    Programs are written for different computers and operating systems. Some may work better on one system and not work on another. The majority of software used to be written for Windows systems. But now we have several Operating Systems and programs that are not OS-interchangeable. (As a newbie, I unknowingly installed a few Linux programs on my Win98 PC, and I've tested alternate programs after reading about a few tweaks.)

    Appliance sales vary according to size, shape, color and features. While a small apartment has enough room for a stackable washer and dryer and a half-size dishwasher with perhaps only partial features available, a family with many children may want to know more about features and size, if they're contemplating adding a second dryer into a laundry room.

    Specifically, a company I'm with, offers different types and appearances of wiki websites. While the choice may be a preference, levels of access, free and paid services, etc., vary for each package. These variants may attract programmers, but others may shy away from a simple environment or one with to many choices.

    Automobiles are definitely a matter of preference. My hubby of 6'1'' cannot sit in or drive a VW Bug or a Dodge Neon comfortably, while my 5'3'' frame would love to save MPGs. Also, while he prefers AM or smooth jazz with the windows down, I enjoy my A/C and the beat of easy rock.

    We're sorry about the overlapping issue. We're working on the way pages display. There are some ways that you can remedy overlap. Either; add a blank-line between the lines of text. or change the font size of webpages in a web browser (or in a program or the whole system).

    Here are quick shortcuts that you can use to instantly change the font size in your web browser. In this case, smaller font will stop text from overlapping onto the next line of text. Please note that fixed fonts may not be resizable in some webpages.

    Instant Shortcuts For Changing Font Size

    • In the menu of a program or web browser;
      Click on View, then hover over Text Size in IE (or in Firefox, Zoom), then click on the next menu command to change to larger or smaller font size.

    • Using your keyboard;
      While holding down the Ctrl [key], press the + [key] or - [key] to change your font size.

    • Using your mouse wheel;
      While holding down the Ctrl [key], "scroll your mouse wheel either up or down" to change your font size. (This reaction may lag slightly, so scroll just a fraction of an inch or two and wait a second.)

    'Official Reps' pop-ups are unreadable!
    Hello,

    There is a popup error on : http://getsatisfaction.com/pbwiki -- I viewed in Firefox 2.0 and IE 7.

    PBwiki's 'Official Reps' pop-ups scroll off the page when viewing the column on the right side, making their descriptions unreadable.

    A page scrollbar doesn't appear until a Rep's pop-up is accessed, but it's still impossible for ordinary users to view the popup information. (SEE image : http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/80...)

    Can you put our list of 'Official Reps' back on the left side where they use to be listed? - unless you first need to contact PBwiki's REP that's working with your company.

    Thank you!

    Here's all the log-in help for PBwiki ...
    (You may use different email addresses, and keys or passwords to log-in to these systems.)

    Log-in to your wiki directly, with an 'invite-key' :
    i.e. http://YourWikiName.pbwiki.com - replace 'YourWikiName' with the name of your wiki.

    Log-in to your PBwiki Identity Account at My.PBwiki.com with a 'password' :
    My.PBwiki.com - or - pbwiki.com (also create a wiki on this page)

    Visit (or login to participate) at the PBwiki Community :
    http://GetSatisfaction.com/pbwiki

    * To get a key or password reset link sent to you - visit the correct log-in page (above) and click the 'lost key or password' link. You will then receive an email with instructions. (Also, you can try all of your email addresses until you get confirmation for entering the correct one.)

    ** If all else fails, Administrators can contact support for a Magic URL - Just click through your wiki's HELP link (at top-right of your wiki).
    - If you are unsure of your wiki's registered email address - You can either;
    a. Visit your wiki's log-in page and try all of your email addresses until you get confirmation for entering the correct one.
    b. Contact support, and they'll email your wiki's registered email address.
    * You can find your "magic url" through your "Settings" under "Sharing".

    * You can change your own Identity's registered email address at My.PBwiki.com, by clicking the 'Email' TAB and type your email address in the 'Add another email address' box.
    - If you add an email address that is already registered to another Identity, the system will ask you if you want to merge these accounts.

    * You may request a change to your wiki's registered email address - by notifying us from your current wiki's registered email address.

    How to create or make a new page
    How do I create a new page?

    There are two simple ways to create a new page:

    One way to create a page is to click on the "New Page" button at the top of your wiki. Be sure to remember that you will need to create a link to this page later - otherwise, you may orphan the page.

    If you have a reason to create a wiki page without linking to it, here's a little cheat - you can type the page's name into the search box in the upper right or you can just type in the new page's web address directly (http://yourwiki.pbwiki.com/NewPage) but remember that with no link to this page, it might get lonely in a hurry because people will only be able to find it through the "Show all pages" link (Located in the footnotes, under 'Wiki Information').

    The second way to make a new page is to create a link to it. Wikis are unusual in that instead of encountering an error when you click on a "broken" link, the wiki will let you define it as a new page. So when you're editing your FrontPage (or any other page in your wiki), you can either type "See my news page" or "see my RecentNews". Both methods work - the first requires you to put brackets around the link you're making and the second requires you to use CamelCase.

    Another way to create a link is to put square [brackets] around any word or phrase to create a new page. For example, if you wanted a page called "cars," you could just type [cars]! You can also watch a video that shows how to create pages:
    http://pbwiki.com/videos/NewPage.swf

    PLEASE NOTE :
    'wiki names', 'page names' and 'file names'
    - CANNOT contain any special characters, other than a dash or an underscore.
    All other special characters are reserved for internet use. Would you believe that 'the apostrophe' (') is the most misused character in page and files names?

    Please DO NOT include any personal information in any public post Especially; email addresses, real names, phone numbers and home addresses.

    If you need to disclose this information, it should be sent to PBwiki directly...
    - through your wiki's 'Help' link, located at the top -- eventually takes you to a form for sending email to PBwiki, or email Support AT PBwiki DOT com for changing your wiki's registered email address or changing your wiki's category, or if you need to send us a screen shot.

    I find it's a more complete copy when using the 'Source' button from one wiki to another. This way you don't lose any formatting.

    I set up my wikipages side-by-side in Firefox's tabbed browser, so I can tab back and forth between copying from one page and pasting it into another.

    Also, I use Firefox as my main wiki internet browser and I check the differences in IE.

    Rebecca
    The biggest problem with this is the 'old standard answer' isn't current, and the search results are restricted to five threads, so users get frustrated when trying to locate an answer they have seen before - as the old answer becomes unusable and taking up unwanted space from both ends - support and their users.

    Change 'edit time' on Satisfaction?
    After a PBwiki Support meeting tonight, I decided to direct this issue to you about the edit timeout that's in place.

    While a timeout for the edit button is available for the usual user, a support person's answer may change as their system changes - thus an entirely different answer may apply.

    How can we edit these answers? Can some of us gain special privileges for an edit button to appear, or to delete threads?

    Rebecca
    How do I make links or URLs? (Point & Click Editor)
    How do I link to a wikipage?

    Click “Link” in the toolbar.

    Make sure “WikiPage” is selected in the “Page Type” dropdown menu.

    In the “Link to wiki page” dropdown menu, select the name of an existing page, in this case "WhatWikiIs".

    In “Link Text” you can type the wording of the link you would like to use to link to the page. If you highlighted a word on the page before you clicked the “Link” button, that word will already be in this field.

    Click "OK".

    How do I link to another website or URL?

    Highlight a word or URL that you wish to use as the link.

    Click the “Link” button in the toolbar.

    In the “Page Type” dropdown menu select “URL”
    Choose the proper protocol (http://, news://, etc).

    In “Link Text” type the wording of the link that you would like to use to link to the page. If you highlighted a word on the page before you clicked the “Link” button, that should be in this field.

    Click “OK”

    Note: If you don’t highlight a word before clicking “Link”, the editor will insert the entire web address into the page as the link, as shown below.

    1. added the pbwiki.com domain into the trusted zone of IE. But it didn't work.
    2. re-installed IE7 using the IE7 with Service Pack 2. But I didn't work.

    So, the next thing which I'm going to try out is to downgrade the IE7 to IE6. Apparently, one of my students has just written to me that he couldn't access the pbwiki from all of his 3 laptops at home.

    Blocked from accessing pbwiki.com?
    User cannot access pbwiki.com from home computer. This connection issue occurred after a crash while upgrading their wiki.

    User tried accessing pbwiki.com through the Firefox Browser, and clearing IE7 browser cache, cookies, temporary internet files & even History, and restarted the browser and computer during these steps.

    Two ways to turn on cookies AND add pbwiki.com to your trusted zone ...
    In Internet Explorer; to add 'pbwiki.com' to your trusted zone; just double-click the icon near the bottom-right of your browser (just under the main internet window) and add ' pbwiki.com' to your trusted zone. You will have to uncheck the HTTPS box before adding pbwiki.com to the list. Then re-check the box before you click OK. The HTTPS box is checked by default and is a safer setting for your system.

    Another way to add pbwiki to your trusted zone ...
    * Click 'Tools' in your browsers toolbar, then click 'Internet Options'.
    * Go to the 'Privacy' tab. If you are not allowing any cookies at all, set a slightly lower security setting. (Medium is good for most users)
    * Click the 'Sites' button and add 'pbwiki.com' as a trusted website.
    * Click Allow.
    * Apply your changes, and click OK.

    You will have to uncheck the HTTPS box before adding pbwiki.com to the list - then recheck the box before clicking OK.

    Anyone using a public computer should click the log-out link when they're done in their wiki, or any other website for that matter.

    The spam issues should be solved now that we're in GetSatisfaction. Clif deleted the last spam in the old forums <http://forums.pbwiki.com> after PBwiki locked them for good. The old forums are still available for reference and your links still work.
