reto asked a question in Wuala on September 04, 2009 22:49:
How do I change the machine for a backup folder?I made a backup of a folder on one computer, now I would like to maintain this data on another machine. Can I do this without having to upload the data to wuala again?

A comment on the problem "Non ascii chars in filenames don't work with nfs access" in Wuala:
True, I could rename my music collection and write a patch for sound-juicer to create wuala-nfs friendly names, adapt my workflows etc. Or why not, write an nfs client that renames the files on the fly (so that special characters appear correctly on the share but transliterated in wuala)...
but why should it be such a big deal to fix this in wuala? – reto, on June 10, 2009 06:50

reto reported a problem in Wuala on June 05, 2009 20:33:
Non ascii chars in filenames don't work with nfs accessI'm using ubuntu and I mounted the nfs share using the following line in /etc/fstab
localhost:/wuala /home/reto/wuala/direct nfs defaults,users,noauto,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,timeo=120,acregmin=10,noac,intr,nolock,soft
the problem is, that filename of files that contain non ascii characters do not show up correctly, for example the folder übermut shows up as zbermut in the filesystem.

rename local file as wellWhen wuala has to rename a file for uploading, it would be nice if it would (optionally) rename the local file being uploaded as well (so that the local folder and the remote one areexact copies after uploading)

dialog suddenly getting the foxus sucksWhen adding multiple files occasionally a dialog pops up to ask things like file renaming or image resizing, as this dialog gets the focus it happened repeatedly to me that I involuntarily selected something in it as I was about to press enter in another application. As the focus suddenly switches to wuala if I don't want to make random choice involuntarily I have to stop doing anything with the keyboard during such operations.

Actually I wanted to move away stuff from my Harddiskt to wuala as there is little space left on my disk. However the wuala/Data/Local2/Large folder in now 9.3 GB and getting bigger whenever wuala runs (till the hd is full and then wuala crashes). I'm not sure what the data in there is, the client is configured not to do local backups.

Contact the owner, but that's me!I'm trying to access a file I recently uploaded and I get the message "This file has not yet been completly uploaded. Please try again later or contact its owner."
When I uploaded the bunch of folders wuala crashed, now it doesn't seem to resume the upload when I start wuala again on the same machine. Is there a way to force resuming of the upload?
Cheers,
reto

reto replied on December 31, 2007 12:17 to the idea "webdav access to my files" in Wuala:
Hi Luzius, I know I can open any file with the wuala gui. Still occasionally it's good to be able to do things like "xmms `find Music | grep -v love`". Of course NFS and Fuse do the job (if they work), I was just thinking that webdav might do the job equally well while being platform independent. Also it might be handy to access the data on multiple computers running a wuala client on just one of them.

webdav access to my filesGetting NFS running is tedious, having the files accessible with webdav would be easier and usually possible without special privileges.
