Thanks Clif - >400 people have self-identified by joining a LinkedIn group. Invitations to a real live event have been conducted by eVite. Feedback or input on future events is currently only word of mouth, which is where I thought the wiki might help; but registering 400 is over the top. Hundreds of .ORGs and other money strapped organizations have used PBwikis to organize their projects.

I myself use a wiki to drive over 2500 people to my free weekly newsletter.

In some cases, you may only wish to pass info to them and a public wiki would allow folks to drop by without having to register to see the content much like any other website.

If you wish all those people to be able to contribute, your biggest hurdle would be getting all those folks registered to the wiki. You'd be having far more trouble doing that at Facebook or eVite. They are not designed to allow others to contribute content in the form of new or edited pages. This is exactly what a wiki will allow you to do that those won't.

How are you currently contacting over 400 people? Most email services don't allow you to contact that many people at once.
