5/3/09 audio file upload not working

show audio file upload not working. It has been over 12 hours since I uploaded 6 shows. now URL for the audio file has been generated, and the shows still show as not having audio. I tried deleting one show and adding it again to see if last night there was a problem and the record did not get greated properly, but still no no. I see no messages about a upload problem. I have been uploading files for a long time, and am somewhat competent in doing the procedure. What is the problem?

it is actually amazing that custom fields were not available from the start on address book. I expect more from apple, and quite dissappointed. I don't use the address book for much, if I could create custom fields, it would probably be one of my most important applications.

It happens before it even asks me what image to upload, so it cannot be a image sizing problem.

This minor compared to the problems of the recent past, but I noticed that you cannot add a image to your call shows. I noticed this last night, when I made a new call show, and it still is the case today. when you try you get the evil screen indicating that this function is not possible.

It is getting very frustrating. I understand system problem and even weekly system problems. but the communication about what is happening is HORRIBLE. lots of people are posting they are having problems uploading episodes, yet the talkshoe front page status message says "system operating normally". Are they unaware?

Also, this is no longer a "power failure" problem from last week. If the power failure cause the past episodes to no longer be uploadable, while the cause, it is now a separate problem in my opinion. Meaning let's say you have a power failure and when you come back up all your programs are gone. The problem may have benn CAUSED by the power failure, but now the problem actually is YOUR PROGRAMS ARE GONE.

It seems it is time for talkshoe update their status page, and approach this problem not as a "we are still having problems from the power failure last week." but to start to clearly communicate what the problem is NOW that is preventing uploading of episodes.

Hey Dave,

Although I was able to upload a show about two days ago, the system is once again giving me the evil screen when I try to upload a episode. Yet the talkshoe fromt page status message you mentioned is showing that all systems are working normally. Also, when I call the number 724.935-8265 that you recommend, it keeps saying to either enter an extension or th enter # if I have a mail box. No matter what buttons I press it just keeps playing that over and over again. I cant seem to get anyone on that line.

Are you are that the system is not allowing uploads? The talkshoe front page says that the system is operatring normally. I am seeing more and more posts about upload problems.

Just to give you an idea of the timing. I uploaded a show earlier today about 3pm, and it just showed up about 9.30pm. So my guess is the system is now working, and is simply delayed because so many files that were recorded after the system cam up are in the process of being converted, and the uploaded files, are either behind them, or the total amount of conversions is slowing the system WAY down. But my upload eventually DID show up.

Yes, I am having the same problem. The upload screen no longer craps out, and it allows me to attach a file to upload, but your are right, it is not appearing, and obviously then not updating the RSS. I have waited about 2-3 hours. Hopefully, what is happening is that many episodes recored over the last few days are converting, and that all is working... but there is just a HUGE queue to get though.

Would be cool if the status page on talkshoe that now says "things are working normally" could perhaps (if it is a queue issue) give some indication of the queue size.

I hope that after this problem is completely taken care of, that talkshoe rethinks, and perhaps adjusts their 'emergency period communication with the customer' procedures. They have a really great product, but I have been disappointed in the level of information dissemination that has gone on during the crisis. Again, i don't want to be a whiner, but am simply giving some advice on how to improve the over all experience of product that is top notch.

Any ETA on when the problem with uploading past episodes will be fixed. It has been about 24 hours since the talkshoe.com system has come back up. I do now see that the status page shows the past episdoes cannot be uploaded, and the RSS feeds are not updating. But is the a ETA on when you can upload past episodes again?

Yeah, I have been getting the same thing for the last 24 hours or so. The Talkshoe.com status page (that you can link to from the main page just under the 4 colors links for LIVE, etc... but is centered on the page, says that is still a known problem and so is RSS updating, a/o 9/29/08 @ 10pm, USA east coast time.

Would love to get an update if that uploading past episodes is expected to be fixed in another 2 hours, 2 days, 2 weeks... Maybe someone from the firm will see this note, and perhaps update the status page, to give some ETA on the episode upload fix.

Thanks for pointing out that status area. I notice it now when I log in. I wil now be aware of that. Hard to believe that I was overlooking that yesterday. I must have been blinded with panic. :)

Great to see on that page that epsides cannot be uploaded (and the info about the RSS). I noticed that the the talkshoe.com pages came back up last night, and now an happy to know that while the pages are back up, that my inability to uploaded and/or change episodes is not a issue to only me. Will keep up with status, and will look to see if either that status changes to say the you can upload now, or that the status link goes away (and will assume that means all is well).

I just found that twitter part of the "hosts lounge" today. I would prefer not to join twitter to have to post things to a site, but I will keep that area in mind in the heat of problems the next time, at least as a pulse.

BTW, you have a really great product. A number of really great features, and I am really enjoying learning how to do not only podcast, but LIVE podcasts. Don't want to be the guy that only talks about problems. you got a GREAT product, and I am LOVING it.

I am having a very very difficult time getting status on anything TalkShoe does. The product is quite nice, but a few times when the product has gone doen, there does not seem to be anywhere that the company communicates that there is a problem, and/or how long it might take to solve. Over the last 24 hours Talkshoe has been mostly down, and now that the live talk is bac up, you do not seem to be able to upload episodes, or edit existing episodes in any way. Yet I cannot see ANY where the firm has even confirmed that there has been a problem. I can find no talkshoe support system, except a third party system; http://getsatisfaction.com/talkshoe.

Yet I have never gotten a response on any post issued there, nor do I see talkshoe posting anything about overall system problem.

You product is quite nice, but company communication is HORRIBLE.

for example, off the main site, the BLOG, has nothing about the recent problems; http://www.talkshoe.com/blog/

1) when will people be able to upload episodes again
2) is there a site/page that I am oerlooking where Talshoe posts info about system problems and status?
