Thank you again Peterh,
So by default is the program set to run as "Automatic (delayed start)" under the "Services" panel in Windows?
Note: In the Services panel you may select "Automatic", "Automatic (delayed start)", "Manual", "Disable"
There will not be any degradation in "protection" from risks that could potentially load at boot up will there?

Peterh,
Thank you for the response.
So I'm going to take that one of the differences between Version 3 and the older Version 2.5 is that now we can choose whether or not we want to have the prompt box come up to notify us of programs that are trying to run that are "suspicious"?
I remember in version 2.5, by default and on Medium setting, anytime a program started that CS didnt recognize, you would have to manually keep hitting "Allow" and then check the box "Remember always" or something like that. Therefore you would have a long list of programs in your "Allow" list versus your "Block" list.
Now version 3.0 that is not the case, but we can turn it on if we want right?
Have a great week.

SBAMsvc.exe starting at delayed start? For Windows Vista Ultimate,
When going to Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services
Sunbelt VIPRE Antivirus Service is set to Automatic (delayed start)
Is this by default to improve system performance/boot-up?
I noticed for the newest version 3.1, the boot-up time when loading Counterspy v3 along with another Security Suite is much quicker (1 minute total) versus the original 3-4minutes before when using Counterspy v2.5
I'm assuming it's associated with the fact that it uses less system resources and that it has been set to delayed start to allow all other programs (including other security software) to load up first before it loads up.
Or am I wrong? I noticed if I switched "Sunbelt VIPRE Antivirus Service" to start up Automatic, then my boot-up time increased to 3 minutes again because I could see via task-bar that it was trying to load up first before everything else.

Active Protection DEFAULTSWhat are the default Active Protection settings (e.g. Which boxes are checked by default after installing the file)?
I notice there are three boxes to be checked:
1.) Notify me when CS blocks and quarantines known risks
2.) Prompt for action if CS determines that a program has suspicious characteristics
3.) Check files when they are opened or copied.
I notice that when Active Protection is on, only #1 is checked. Should the other two be turned on also? Or is there a risk of diminishing performance by turning those settings on?

Counterspy V3 scans faster, but registry scanning is not as thorough as Version 2.5?Counterspy V3 scans faster, but registry scanning is not as thorough as Version 2.5?
For the past 5 months i've been using version 2.5, full computer scans have always taken about an hour (deep-scan mode) and about ~105,000 registry files are scanned each time.
Now with version 3.1.2552, i performed a deep-scan yesterday and it indeed scans quicker (~45 minutes for full deep-scan), yet the registry scan only goes through about 26,000 registry files compared to Version 2.5's 108,000 registry files scanned, is this an issue or is this an "upgrade" where V3 only scans necessary registry locations (thereby increasing scan time)?
Thanks

CS is the slowest in terms of definition downloads (esp. when u reinstall the current version and have to start from 699 --> xxx), but rest assure that downloads will be quicker from now on (usually 4-5 a week) and the program is absolutely wonderful.
It has excellent active protection (this is why i switched from other name brand software), and the detection rates are decent (low false positives too!)
Have a great weekend.
riceorony replied on July 06, 2008 00:03 to the problem "Definitions download failure" in Sunbelt Software:
It's a normal glitch that the progress bar vanishes. I've contacted support in the past, and rest assure the file is still being downloaded (the definitions can be huge if you just installed the program). Can take up to an hour, so if nothing happens after that, you should email or call customer service to have the definitions file sent to you. You can just manually download the file and place it in the appropriate folder.

Is SBRC.exe always supposed to load at start-up?SBRC.exe always loads at start-up and the command prompt loads at the beginning showing it doing it's job (registry cleaning).
I havnt used my computer in a month, and dont know whether this is a new feature (or maybe a new version of the program). I've never seen that file load previously since I've had this program since April 1st.
The actual program itself works great. I dont know whether I have to reinstall the program, or maybe I just need to stop SBRC.exe from starting up? Or is it a necessary file to always start on boot?
Thanks all

Why boot-time scan on a VERY newly reformmated laptop? Why did i get a boot-time scan when this computer was JUST reformmated yesterday and only connected to the internet for less then 4 hours behind a router and external SPI/NAT firewall??
Just reformatted computer and installed Vista Ultimate with all service packs + updates. Installed a few other programs like adobe, aim, msn live, flashplayer, and shockwave player (nothing else). Then installed zonealarm forcefield and finally counterspy v2. Did a full scan and nothing detected (obviously because it's a newly reformmated computer). This morning I installed zonealarm Internet security suite and after being prompted to reboot, CS enters the boot-time (bootup) scan and deletes a file from quarantine (which is impossible because nothing was detected yesterday evening!)
Quarantine file: 67c1ec09-a5b7-4dd8-8777-10303b293b48
No filesharing or any downloading of any sort has occured during that time period (besides the above listed programs and possible drivers/etc. for the laptop)
Is there any logs of what CS decided to delete?
