I can download it and then install the program and it will work fine. I close it or reboot and then try to restart it and I can't use it anymore until I uninstall and reinstall again. Screw that!!! But they are aware of it and trying to figure out why on some systems it works and some it doesn't. I hope they find it fast cause when the program worked it was great. I loved it. But thanks for the reply so I know this is still active. Take care,

I have this same problem. I haven't even been able to try the program because, from the moment I installed it, all I get is that the service is suspended. On every page; with Firefox 3 and running on Windows Vista. I assume that it is the latest version of the program because it was installed 30 minutes before I posted this.

Hey Brent no problem just was wondering what was going on. I used Firefox and it was great then a friend told me about Flock (which I like better) but then with both browsers for some reason i had nothing but problems and computer crashes and stuff. So I prefer not to have both browsers on here at the same time.
Take care,

Thanks Brent. But one other suggestion if you don't mind. When you guys send out this email in response to these questions. We should be able to email right back to you directly from clicking the reply instead of it being a no-reply email. – Rick, on May 13, 2008 20:14

Sure I have no problems answering the questions to help make this work. Like I said it was great and a great idea. I give props to the creators of it. I will answer in the order you asked here.
1.) I uninstalled it now so there is no multicolor men. But when it was installed the men stayed colorful.
2.) I use Flock browser. Version 1.1.2
3.) I am using Windows XP and this is a laptop/notebook computer. All up to date.
4.) I was using the most up to date version of Me.dium. In fact a few days ago there was an update qand I installed it hoping it would be a fix but still did not work.
5.) I see it all the time. From the time I open the sidebar and it logs in and no matter what page I go to it has the suspend cover. I tried to open it when the MyWorld is on and then change the page and go to another website and it still shows and then I try to open the sidebar when MyWorld is not on but an Http: site is on and it still shows the suspend.
When I uninstall the Me.dium and reinstall it then it works for that session but then when I try to re-open it after I reboot it stops working until I uninstall and reinstall it again.
I hope this information helps you out.

Hey Rick,
A) Glad you dug Me.dium when it worked for you.
B) Really sorry it's not working like you expect right now and I'm also sorry the recommendations I get you last week didn't work.
I'd like to get our engineers working on the problem, but would like some more info from you in order to help them try to reproduce the problem. Do you mind answering a few questions?
1. Is the icon with the blue, orange and yellow people in your browser illuminated? If it's not you'll just see the outline of three bodies. This will make it so that the 'Suspend' message is always up. To turn it back on, just click it so that the bodies are fully colored again. (You'll likely find this icon near the address bar)
1a. If that was not illuminated, do you recall ever clicking it off? If not, that's a bug on our end that we need to fix.
2. What browser and browser version are you running? (Should be able to find it under the browswers 'Help' drop down menu)
3. What kind of operating system are you using?
4. What version of Me.dium are you running? (Version 4.0.2.7298 is the latest in Firefox, Flock and Songbird. Version 3.0.2.7305 is the latest for Internet Explorer.)
5. On what sites are you seeing the 'Suspended' message? (You should see it whenever you're on an https site or on various Facebook pages, but on nearly all http pages you should be able to share your location.)
Phew...thanks for taking the time to write Rick. I want to help get this fixed for you.
Take care,
Brent

SUSPEND THE WHOLE ME.DIUM PROGRAM UNTIL YOU GET IT TO WORK!!!Has anyone fixed the suspend problem with Me.dium yet? I just updated a day or two ago to see if it would fix it but I still have the problem. I am not going to keep uninstalling and reinstalling everytime I was to use it. So when you guys get this fixed please let me know and I will try Me.dium again. BTW when it worked it was an EXCELLENT program!!!
Thanks,
Rick

Hey Rick,
Want to ask a clarifying question. Does the 'shield' pop up on all web pages you visit? Or is it only on pages that are secured (https)?
We've designed this so anytime you visit a page where personal data is being transferred (your bank acct., email, etc.) then we throw up the shield to protect your data.
If this is happening on every page, please let me know what operating system and browser you're using. And if you could please also check the program version you're running (in Firefox go to tools -> add ons and check the number next to Me.dium. in Internet Explorer go to the start menu -> control panel -> add/remove programs then highlight the Me.dium IE Add-on and click the more information button).
Obviously, there isn't much value in having the shield up all the time - we want to get that fixed.
Thanks for taking the time to write.
Take care,
Brent
Rick asked a question in Me.dium on May 05, 2008 18:17:
Me.dium Is a pain in the A#$When i open my Me.dium sidebar where it should be showing where I am and everyone else is actually covered with a grayish almost transparent overlay on it and it says "Sharing with Me.dium Suspended! this is a private page and Me.dium want to make sure your personal information is protected."
So what is that all about and how do I get rid of it and start back with the normal use. I am shown as viewable to all.
I have uninstalled reinstalled upgraded installed uninstalled reinstalled and it works as soon as I install the Me.dium program but then once I get out of it and reboot and then start it again I get the same problems and have to uninstall and reinstall again to get it to work. When will this be fixed?
Brent D. replied on April 28, 2008 01:07 to the question "Can't View Me.dium Locations for friends." in Me.dium:
Very glad it's working out for you Rick. Thanks for your patience and sticking with it.
And thank you also for the suggestion regarding the 'shield.' We'll definitely keep it in mind, but for now we're very focused on allaying people's privacy fears. The shield, we feel, helps with that.
Anyhow, hope you enjoy Me.dium.
All the best,
Brent
