Kristen - thanks for your reply. I'm very new to the application, but it appears that if I change the budget amount every month, the amount is changed for all previous months as well, which changes the amount that was supposed to have rolled over. And, if the rollover amount is inaccurate, my envelope approach fails. Thanks again!

How do I create a budget that varies from one month to the next?
Is it possible to set up a budget that varies from month to month? I currently use an envelope budgeting system, and I create a budget at the beginning of each month to spend every expected income dollar on paper for the month (just as Dave Ramsey teaches) - I have never had a month that was exactly the same as another month. Along the same lines, since I have been using an envelope budgeting system for a while, I already have money allocated for each budget - is there a way to set up a beginning balance for my budgets?
