I'm having the exact same problem described by Eelke and others. I just tried adding my first To-do item and kept getting this error.

Unable to sync to Sony Ericsson Z500a
I have tried numerous times to sync my Sony Ericsson Z500a phone with Soocial, to no avail. I have followed all of the instructions for sync on the site, and my phone is recognized each time (it shows up in the Connections tab). On my phone, it will even say that it is transferring contacts, with an increasing number. The highest I have seen this number go is around 345 before it gives an error and closes the connection. The site shows that it has seen the phone, but says "You have not synchronized with this phone yet." I have tried resetting this and removing it and starting again. I have also tried syncing from a bunch of different locations, and my signal has been strong. Nothing has worked.

Please let me know if there is anything else I should try.

Files not syncing to new computer
I recently purchased a new computer (Thinkpad T400 running Vista Business), and I tried transferring about 32GB of files to it via SugarSync, with no success. I have had SugarSync running for the past 3 days and there is no indication of any improvement in the sync status. The system tray icon has said "Syncing folder changes..." for the entire time. When I go to View->File Transfer Status in the desktop manager, SugarSync identifies 43630 Downloads Remaining, however it does not make any progress in decreasing this number. Looking at the primary sync folder on my desktop, it appears the folders have all been put into place (6,747 of them), but no files have been downloaded yet.

I have tried stopping and restarting SS several times. I have also tried uninstalling SS and reinstalling it. Everything leads to the same result.

Is the sync process just going to take a very long time? Should I keep waiting? If so, it would be good to have some kind of indication of progress (if not files appearing in folders, at least some indicator). It seems there should be a better fix for the case of syncing a brand new computer up...since it will always be faster to transfer the files via USB, it would be better if SS just improved its file recognition algorithms so it could recognize any errors in your direct file transfer, but otherwise leave the heavy lifting to the USB.

I'm not sure what else I can do at this point. I would really like to get my files onto this computer so I can get started working with them, though (I would prefer them to sync with SS, but might have to bypass using the service if it's not going to sync).

    Thanks,
    Rick

Integration with Animoto to make cool videos from photos.
It would be awesome if you offered integration with Animoto video making. It would be cool to be able to port photos directly from SugarSync over to Animoto (currently they support flickr and facebook).

Rick replied on May 30, 2009 20:12 to the idea "Photo gallery improvements" in Sharpcast:

I agree, and I've made similar feature requests in the old forums before:

    1. SugarSync should recognize all photo metadata (including all hierarchical tags and people tags - ideally using something like the facebook interface for tagging people). Ideally users could organize albums by tags if they wanted, and easily search through photos by tags, date, etc. This is getting more towards what flickr does, but flickr has a lot of UI issues itself.

    2. Sharing albums is very difficult now. I am trying to set up a shared folder for a wedding where everyone can easily click a link to view photos that have been uploaded, or upload their own photos. There is no easy way to do this that I can find. I wouldn't even mind if users had to register with SugarSync (although I would prefer for it not to confuse/deter them by asking them to download the client if they clearly came through an invitation to just upload some photos). But even after someone is registered on SugarSync and sharing a folder, it is completely unintuitive for them to get to the gallery for that folder. Is there some simple way of doing this that I'm missing?

    3. There should be an option to have a full-screen view of photos.

    4. There should be an option to embed photo galleries on your own website.

I love SugarSync and continue to recommend it to friends, but I don't think I can use it for sharing photos with this wedding.

    Thanks,
    Rick

    Automatically suggest existing molecules
Once a user inputs a molecule sequence, you should suggest existing molecules from the FunBio database, as well as other external databases that are similar to that sequence.

    How do I merge contacts?
In gmail, some of my contacts have multiple different email addresses that show up as separate contacts. Ideally I'd like these addresses to be merged under just the real contact's name. I think Zyb does something like this. Is there a way to do this with Soocial? Ideally it would be somewhat automatic.

I tried a lot of things, including disabling my Symantec Antivirus software. Finally I just completely uninstalled the Symantec Antivirus/Firewall client and then did a fresh install and now it's working. So it seems like something was going wrong in the symantec software somewhere. Thanks for all the help!

I am still having the same problem. I have tried unchecking the "Send updates using SSL" box and still I am unable to connect. I continue to get the same error that I posted a few weeks ago (above). Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can diagnose/treat the problem here?

I am having the same problem. I just downloaded RescueTime and I get Error 3000 when trying to "verify" my account. I am not behind any proxy. Also, when I click on "Check for Updates" it gives me this message:

Error checking for updates, please try again later. Unable to connect to the remote server : System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 64.34.167.25:80

    at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.DoConnect(EndPoint endPointSnapshot, SocketAddress socketAddress)

at System.Net.ServicePoint.ConnectSocketInternal(Boolean connectFailure, Socket s4, Socket s6, Socket& socket, IPAddress& address, ConnectSocketState state, IAsyncResult asyncResult, Int32 timeout, Exception& exception)

I also tried the steps listed above (I got "login success!" when testing the link with my account information).

Any thoughts on how I can get RescueTime to communicate with the outside world?

    Thanks,
    Rick
