Dr. Robert White replied on October 22, 2009 10:37 to the question "how to get around magic jack" in TalkShoe:
Apparently, you did not read my response above. Talkshoe IS working with MagicJack right now to resolve this issue. It is not just settings they are wanting or needing.
If by chatting you mean their "customer support" chat, then by all means have fun with that! I know I did! It is an automated support system and you are not chatting with a real person, just a robotic script that is designed to answer your questions. MagicJack does not have real people to speak to nor do they give you access to these people direct.
And I don't know what you are meaning when you say that there is no on to talk to at Talkshoe? We at least have a real support staff...at least I think I'm real?!? And I believe the others that I work with are real as well, so Talkshoe is one up on MagicJack I guess.
Dr. Robert White replied on October 22, 2009 03:07 to the question "how to get around magic jack" in TalkShoe:
Talkshoe is currently in talks with MagicJack to attempt to resolve this issue. Since MagicJack has installed their own conference lines, they have purposely blocked ALL other conference lines from their service and are asking the MagicJack customers to use their service instead. At this time, there is no time frame to resolve this issue as MagicJack is in no hurry to resolve this with Talkshoe.
All MagicJack users, please watch this forum for a resolution. Continual e-mails and forum postings about this issue will not get it resolved any faster and we will keep you updated as to when and if this issue is resolved with MagicJack. Since MagicJack has their own conference service, they are not wanting a resolution in order to build their new service. I too, am personally a MagicJack customer, so I would like a resolution as badly as the rest of you!

Dr. Robert White replied on July 17, 2009 22:01 to the question "Pro features? Unlimited participants?" in TalkShoe:
The live callers on the phone are limited to 250 callers. The chat room can handle 300 chatters maximum, however, once you hit 50 chatters in the chat room, all chatters will become muted. A nice feature here is, that the Host can unmute all the chatters when they are ready. The mute all is a default.
There is unlimited storage available for your MP3 recordings.
At this time, Talkshoe does not have any Pro features available. You can purchase space on the Featured Page and Top 10 Shows, however, there is no other features available currently.
You can download the Talkshoe Pro Live Client by clicking on My Talkshoe and then Downloads.

Dr. Robert White replied on July 17, 2009 21:56 to the question "Why are GV e-associates not given access to timely information?" in TalkShoe:
This GetSatisfaction area is for Talkshoe issues and cannot address issues for other companies.
We are aware that the GlobalVerge host of the Show ID 21600 has had some issues on previous calls and we have tried repeatedly to contact them, however, there has been no reply from this host, so we are not able to assist them until such a time that they contact us.
Dr. Robert White replied on July 11, 2009 15:15 to the question "widget limitations?" in TalkShoe:
Listening via the widget does have some limitations, however, you can have a greater number of listeners on the widget than you can on the live calls. It is not unlimited, but it does give you a litle more flexibility for more listeners. Also, widget users cannot interact with the chat room or on the live call, so there are a couple of limitations that you may need to address with these type of listeners as well.
Dr. Robert White replied on July 11, 2009 14:47 to the question "Playing Audio Files During a Live Show." in TalkShoe:
Shinshuri:
There are two approaches to playing pre-recorded audio and/or music (please respect copyrights) during your live shows (Talkcasts). In either case, you'll play the audio from your computer using an application such as VoiceEmotion (free without the recording option at http://www.voiceemotion.com/), iTunes, Ubercaster (Mac only - pricey but excellent), etc. To connect your computer to your live call:
1) [Zero budget option] First, install a "SIP-compliant" voice-over-IP (VoIP) client on your computer. Many people use SJPhone (free here: http://www.sjlabs.com/sjp.html). This TalkShoe guide will help you with any configuration problems (http://www.talkshoe.com/se/hrc/resour....
Then create a second account on TalkShoe with a username such as "MyAudioFeed" and, IMPORTANTLY, its own 10-digit PIN.
At show time, sign into your primary TalkShoe account to "Start" and manage your call, and phone in with your primary PIN (this is your voice channel). Connect your computer into your live show using SJPhone and your second PIN (this is your recorded audio channel).
The main downside of this approach is that audio across VoIP can be somewhat unpredictable. Occasional audio "artifacts", echo issues, and random disconnections are not uncommon (and not due to anything either you or TalkShoe can control). Do avoid WiFi connections if you're going this way -- it's just one more variable that can cause trouble.
By the way, I have NOT suggested that you connect a headset/mic to your computer to enable you to talk across this same connection because most computers cannot merge multiple audio streams. It is possible with Virtual Audio Cable software (buy it here -- http://www.screenvirtuoso.com/vac.html) but it's fairly complicated and NOT recommended.
or...
2) [$300 to $500 option] Buy a USB-capable mixer and connect it to a telephone interface device from JKAudio (www.jkaudio.com - we use the "Inline Patch" model ourselves at Talkshoe). This allows you to plug in multiple mics, headphones, various sound sources, and a computer and connect everything across a single landline phone to TalkShoe. The quality is impressive and can be further enhanced by running a local recording.
Dr. Robert White replied on July 11, 2009 14:44 to the question "Missed Calls Emailed to ME??" in TalkShoe:
At this time, the best way to get missed calls sent to you is to subscribe using the iTunes or RSS Feed buttons found on the show page that you want the calls from. This way, you can use iTunes or any other feed reader to retrieve these calls easily and listen to them on your computer or any MP3 device.

Dr. Robert White replied on July 11, 2009 14:41 to the question "Can anybody suggest some great mics for me?" in TalkShoe:
Logitech and Shure both make great mics and are reasonably priced too. If you have a mixer, then I would go with a Shure microphone, otherwise check out the Logitech USB headset/mics and you can even find these at your local Target and Wal-Mart stores as well as many office supply stores such as Staples and Office Depot.

Dr. Robert White replied on July 11, 2009 14:38 to the question "USB mic causes echo effect like speakers would." in TalkShoe:
When using a USB Mic, especially one on a headset, the placement of your mic in relationship to your headphones can cause this echo effect to happen as the mic will feedback through the headphones. You may also want to check the gain or volume of the mic to insure that it is not set too high. A too high volume or gain setting can also cause this issue.

Dr. Robert White replied on July 11, 2009 14:19 to the question "Browsers crash while listening to live Talkshoe" in TalkShoe:
Depending on which client you are using, you may see some of these issues. Primarily when using the Web Client, you will see more issues of the crashing or getting kicked off due to some issues within the program itself. These issues are being addressed by our Tech Team currently. For more stability, you should download and install the Pro Client as it is the most stable of our client programs and does not suffer from the web client issues. This program is available for both Mac and PC.

Dr. Robert White replied on July 11, 2009 14:15 to the question "talkshoe is down again - July 7 at 8:00. any fix?" in TalkShoe:
On Tuesday and Thursday Nights around 9pm EST, the Talkshoe service sees a spike in callers and traffic and this can cause some delays on the phone bridge and other parts of the service. We are working to take care of this issue, however, you may want to consider another night or time frame to help you to avoid these high volume times. Normally, between 8:30pm to 10:00pm EST on Tuesdays and Thursdays is when we are seeing these spikes. Most other times during these days appear to be ok.
Dr. Robert White replied on July 11, 2009 14:11 to the update "TalkShoe Support LIVE and More!" in TalkShoe:
The decision was made to close down the Ning site for the API due to what appeared to be a lack of interest in it. If you would like, you can send me your request to robw@talkshoe.com and I will see if I can get the API info for you and send it to you.
