I am certainly looking into buying one within the year. Just waiting for some slightly better hardware (am keeping my eye on a sony ericsson at the mo).

A songbird app would be amazing, or even a full app store in songbird (is that even possible on android phones)

I guess it could easily be true. If you read the SteveL interview mentioned in this weeks Birdbath then it would seem these partnerships are exactly what they are trying to achieve.

Not sure whether you will get a definite answer as it could be top secret... :-)

ok ignore my above post. it seems to be an easier way to do what you could before so i guess will work the same (i.e. purchased music can only be authorized on 5 machines)

I guess songbird could implement something similar, though would you still limit sharing to 5 people so as not to get on the wrong side of the music biz.

Yeah it's a shame that 7Digital is such a small company that only serves parts of Europe. I've just had a look on their website and it appears that they are recruiting if anyone is interested:

From my understanding (though I may be completely wrong), this would require some work on an AMZ decoder, or direct partnership with amazon.

Clearly direct partnership is better as this would also allow for some form of profit sharing between amazon and songbird giving songbird more money to invest in future developments and more developers etc..

On the AMZ front it has been pointed out before that 2 projects already exist:

How do I submit a change in the _default_ language of songbird? Is there a section on the translate page or should i use the standard bug report pages.

I sometimes spot the odd mistake when in the translation web pages. For example there are some new strings that miss the third 'r' in "transferred"

Ah don't get me started on album art image sizes. This is one of the main reasons i switched from Windows Media Player - it constantly takes over your album art and if your not careful it will shrink your only copy of album art down to 200px (just to stretch it back up when playing in Media Centre, completely destroying the quality in the process!!)

500 to 600 pixels is a nice size.

Q: My question is how does songbird handle album art when syncing to a mp3 player? Clearly the best solution would be to strip the album art out of the tracks and add a single album cover .jpg for each album (instead of every file in the album including the same .jpg file).

BBC iPlayer relies entirely on Adobe Flash (apart from the localized radio as noted above), so if this works i guess all you're doing is copying the flash plugin over
