Tip Metrics - how are my tips doing? Is there a way to see who's done my tips? Or to get a count to judge popularity? (I'd be happy with either on the website or via API)
RobKelley replied on December 03, 2009 02:22 to the idea ""alias" for venue names" in foursquare:
Idea: make this the default 'Gimme an Alias' thread (like the default duplicates thread). Can you assign these aliases?
Name: Joe the Art of Coffee - Chelsea:
URL: http://foursquare.com/venue/42182
Alias: Joe Chelsea
Name: Fashion Institute of Technology
URL: http://foursquare.com/venue/41219
Alias: FIT
Name: The High Line Park
URL: http://foursquare.com/venue/11872
Alias: High Line
Is there some way to see the aliases a venue has?
Any guidelines for suggesting aliases?
Rob

"Newbie" badge shout-out should include cityI keep seeing newbie badges for veteran users. I know it means they've just checked into a new city. it'd be helpful if the newbie badge said something like "I just unlocked the "Newbie" badge in San Francisco on @foursquare! http://bit.ly/6V6Ljy

Too late -- somebody already merged the venues and kept the one that was for the old restaurant. In the interest of future clarity, I changed to name to show it's a 'Park', modified the address slightly, and added the phone and twitter details for the real High Line. If anyone with real db powers can slice off the checkins prior to June 8th and drop 'em in a separate entry *High Line Restaurant, 835 Washington", well, that'd be nice.-

Good news. Wine social site Corkd.com lets users add wines, which then feed into GetGlue.

Fix the High Line (on foursquare)It seems that the NYC venue I and most other people have been using for the High Line Park is in fact a defunct restaurant that once existed beside the High Line:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/highline-new-... -- closed
http://foursquare.com/venue/11872 -- still being checked into
I think it dates from dodgeball days.
How to fix? At first I thought oh, let's just merge it with a venue that does relate to the real High Line -- http://foursquare.com/venue/245087 - The High Line Park
But NO (Superusers with super powers, hold on!) There's a more elegant way. The High Line Park opened June 8, 2009:
http://blog.thehighline.org/2009/06/0...
Checkins prior to June 8, 2009 (or June 1st to be safe) belong to the restaurant. For those after this point, we know from a Yelp review from Citysearch has this place closed by August 25:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/highline-new-...
I suspect the place closed way back in winter, but any big gap in checkins between the launch of FourSquare March 16, 2009 and June 1, 2009 would suggest the venue dying. So I'd argue to put all checkins after June 8, 2009 to the High Line Park (245087).
I've marked the new High Line entry 245087 as the Park. I'm loath to close the original venue because it has a lot of people's tips and to-do's.
Super-super-superuser (you know who you are--you have db access), can you reassign checkins, tips and to-do's at venue 11872 that occur after June 8, 2009 to venue 245087?
Can this be done? Let me know if you have a better solution.
Rob Kelley
P.S. We'll be able to do more sleuthing in these cases if the API venue method allows filtering by date. :)

Summary view of all cities' "merge venue" requests? It'd help merging venues if there was some way to see all cities and each city's number of venues waiting to be merged. It could be that if you're on the merge venue page, the dropdown to change city could show the number of merge venue requests for that city:
Minneapolis (14)
New York City (10)
Stockholm (5)
...
Thanks

In the admin panel, under Minneapolis, there's an entry stuck that can't be merged. I get the error that "The server cannot be contacted at this time".
The entry is listed four times. Can this one be cleared?

Wine Catalog missing most winesWine search seems hopeless. I want to add this review to La Vieille Ferme Cotes Du Ventoux 2007. A search of the whole string brings back the winery, but the white wine, not the red. A partial search "La Vielle" doesn't even bring back the white.
Wine cataloging seems a very hard thing. The world has many wineries, each winery has many products, and each product has many vintages. And the difference from a product year to year can be huge. It requires a comprehensive wine database OR user-generated entries OR both.
My preference: let me add wine entries I don't see
My choice for wine database: wine-searcher.com (every vintage, every year)
In the meantime, can you add this entry and review?
La Vielle Ferme
Cotes Du Ventoux 2007
A good table wine IMHO with spice, cherry, and a decent finish. Often in the bargain bin--a good deal that's better than some middle-priced wines. WS: "Fresh and stylish, with black cherry, grilled herb and tobacco notes that linger on the tender, mineral-tinged finish. Drink now. Score: 87 -- James Molesworth, July 2009."
Let me know your thoughts?
Thanks.

I have the same bug with Estancia 460 after a merge.
http://foursquare.com/venue/41806 (kept)
http://foursquare.com/venue/81877
I went back to 41806 to edits its name to Estancia 460. On submit of the change, I get the following error:
Something unexpected happened while serving the page at /edit_venue
There's a #1 in the address of the place.

Associating a drop to manager generates both right and wrong messageWhen I associate a drop with my manager account (/admin/set_manager) I get a nice confirmation message but also the message saying I've already done this even though it's the first time:
--
Your manager account was successfully associated with this drop.
This drop is already associated with a Manager account.
---
The second message shouldn't appear the first time the drop is added to the manager.
