You should try this.
log on the main adminitrator account
Click Start (Windows logo)
type Task Scheduler in the search field
select Task Scheduler when it appears.
If prompted for permission type administrator password or click Continue .
In the left column, click Task Scheduler Library .
In the centre column, select the task you want to stop (extended service plan)
In the right column, click Delete
then click Yes to confirm deletion.
Close the Task Scheduler window.
The task or reminder will no longer begin automatically.

I think the system would not allow you to delete it, but just disable it. Calling HP without getting a solution to it. – cscs3, on July 06, 2008 23:41

This is the action you need to perform and you won't need to let anyone else on your computer. – fredtrk, on July 06, 2008 18:43

I have the same issue but I have tried to remove it from the task scheduler library and it will not allow me to delete or disable it. My case is up in the case manager department now and I am ready to get rid of the computer and go with another brand. I have even made a recovery set of disk and I cannot even do a recovery on this computer or a system restore to an earlier date.

This worked for me!
Remove an automatic action from Task Scheduler
To prevent automated tasks from starting multiple times, remove the entry from the Task Scheduler by performing the following actions:
Click Start , type Scheduler in the search field, and select Task Scheduler when it appears.
If prompted for permission, click Continue .
In the left column, click Task Scheduler Library .
In the center column, select the task you want to stop.
In the right column, click Delete , and then click Yes to confirm deletion.
Close the Task Scheduler window.
The task or reminder will no longer begin automatically.
All of those annoying pop ups were in here.

First try this...
If I remember correctly, the application that makes the HP Extended Service Plan notice pop up is the HP Total Care Advisor. To turn it off, press Win+R and type msconfig, go to the Startup tab and uncheck HP Total Care Advisor and click Apply and OK and restart your computer.
You can always turn it back on by either checking it again in System Configuration (msconfig), and restarting, or going to Start>All Programs>HP Total Care Advisor.
if you need more tweaks , please eme.
We can also do a "Windows Remote Assistance" Request and you may follow along.
Start>>>Type in Windows Remote Assistance">>>>in the start search box>>>
Click On Invite someone to help>>>enter password and email it to me>>>your outlook will pop-up and then enter my email address. Please allow 24 hours as im not online all the time , but i will get your problems taken care of.

HP Extended Service Plan Hostage on Pavilion tx 1000 Laptop running VISTAI have a HP Laptop: Pavilion tx 1000 that I received as a gift > a year ago. Due to it having MS VISTA ( I'm not a fan of VISTA, but that's another topic), I Just started to use the NEW Laptop. It keeps coming up with a pop-up window ( like every 30 min.) to purchase an Extended Service Plan and I can NOT get it to go away / delete it. When I called HP service, they COULD NOT tell me how to disconnect it because it was > a year from being purchased - hence they WOULD NOT talk to me unless I was willing to $$ PAY $$ for the service call - Talk about getting PO.... PLEASE - can anyone tell me where to find the link / code to DELETE this PopUp?
