A comment on the idea "VISUALIZATIONS!" in Songbird:
So as usual the devs aren't bothered with visualizations then. Had that with foobar when it came out (and most other players for that matter)). I wonder why they don't just say that in this thread, it would save our time and effort.
This topic is in the "Ideas Under Consideration" section. Why not just remove it. It is not going to happen.
Yeah Morphyre is OpenGL we had to do that for cross platform stuff. Only got up for public release last week and I have a load of stuff to add to it. I wasn't really ready for a public release...........
OpenGL is the way forward. The MilkDrop clone ProjectM could be ported in easily as you say. – Rovastar, on September 19, 2009 01:23

Yeah go with jaw's stuff if you have already had discussions. I presume the issue is setting up the OpenGL stuff in songbird for the initial run from teh songbird devs? – Rovastar, on September 18, 2009 17:27

Hi there,
Well I am one of the few people that actual write visualization software.
I have been involved in scenes and dev work for milkdrop, g-force, R2, R4, etc and now our new one Morphyre (which is nearly finished).
We *could* port something for songbird.
Is there any sort of API/SDK for it for visualization creation?
Sadly also what comes into play (to work out the effort needed) is market penetration so what sort of figures of downloads have you had?
Also we have no intention of making it open source. Is that an issue here?
Let me know
John
