@chroman16:
christian81 has solved a similar problem with RatingFile, look at the RatingFile Add-On Page.

rsjtdrjgfuzkfg reported a problem in Songbird on October 12, 2009 18:02:
about:config clearedOpening Songbird today it asked me to accept the licence, and started the whole setup for clean profiles. All Add-Ons and the library stayed, but all things mentioned in about:config are away.
Any possibilities to get them back?
Somebody else having this problem out there?
rsjtdrjgfuzkfg replied on October 11, 2009 11:39 to the question "STOP songbird updating music library" in Songbird:
I don't use Manage Music. And my English is that bad that I don't understand what you want to say with "because i was told apparently that stopped it from updating". Is there a problem to turn it of for a short time to check if it is the problem?
What kind of deleting do you try?
Deleting in filesystem?
Deleting in songbird?
What kind of update is that?
Manage Music?
I think you should try turning off Manage Music, test if it works. If you need Manage Music and it is the problem, you might have to use another deleting method (deleting the File, too or at least putting it into another folder outside of manage music's folder).

Songbird stops updating your library if you disable Media Importer | Automatically watch for changes in the following folder in the Options.
The metadata problem...
Maybe the filetype isn't supported for writing tags. In this case, the message tells you, that the current tag of the file will be different from the tag shown in songbird if you change metadata. Songbird changes the metadata only in the Library and not in the file, if the filetype isn't supported for writing.

You didn't answered the questions
How does Songbird shows you the crash (no reaction to your input or a error message)?
Did Songbird come up once - or crashes it since the first start? – rsjtdrjgfuzkfg, on September 10, 2009 09:41
rsjtdrjgfuzkfg replied on September 07, 2009 13:20 to the question "is song bird compatible with ipods? can it sync my i pod like itunes can?" in Songbird:
With the iPod Device Support Addon Songbird gets the ability to manage iPods.
official description:
Play your iPod from Songbird and synchronize it with your Songbird library using the iPod device Songbird extension. This extension will mount your iPod in Songbird, allowing you to play songs from your iPod library and playlists. This extension also allows you to copy songs to your iPod or synchronize your iPod from your Songbird library.
But not every iPod is supported and up to now there is no AlbumArt-Support.

I think some more information would be great.
When does Songbird chrash (after showing the Main-Window or before the Profile-Manager if you try opening it or between Profile-Manager and Main-Window)?
How does Songbird shows you the crash (no reaction to your input or a error message)?
Did Songbird come up once - or crashes it since the first start?
Some things that might help:
Maybe try creating a new Profile, if the crash is between Profile-Manager and Main-Window?
Maybe check if the Profile-Directory is write- or read-protected?-

For that you could use FolderSync. But, like MikeyLIkesIt noticed, is not the part of this topic. – rsjtdrjgfuzkfg, on August 08, 2009 12:06

Alternative:
The Add-On RatingFile is able to im-/export ratings and play counts. So you could export from the old Profile and import to the new Profile.
