A comment on the question "How do I find my blog's API Endpoint?" in Ma.gnolia:
Textpattern's XML-RPC support is designed to match up more closely with the Movable Type API. The XML-RPC has also been quite substantially improved recently, and will be a fully fledged component in TXP 4.0.7 -- but it's not quite right to say that it's not a more modern blog API :-) A Textpattern "section" is equivalent to a "blog" in the Movable Type sense. – Rocketpilot, on July 04, 2008 06:31

Hi Jay
We have been discussing some improvements to the upload and explain process which we hope to work on in the near future. We're aware that there are some situations which our auto-guess system is a little too eager, and where customers would like a bit more control.
I'm still not quite sure why you would need to delete uploaded transactions though?

I also need the option to delete uploaded transactions. I understand 'the truth' concept but I'm *generally* smarter than the uploads or have already filled in the details, category, etc. Not to mention, if the transaction includes multiple checks or an order for widgets that needs to be rebilled to multiple projects, it's going to take even more time.
Some sort of matching -- even just a manual option -- is sorely needed.
Olly replied on May 23, 2008 16:56 to the problem "csv file upload - file type not recognised" in FreeAgent Central:
Hi Toby
The simplest CSV format we support is that used by AMEX which has three fields: Date, Amount, Description. There is no header, the date format is dd/mm/yyyy and the description is in double quotes. Here's an example:
22/05/2008,29.38,"FreeAgent Central Subscription"
22/05/2008,-15.99,"Remittance"
If you don't mind could you send these 'nasty excel files' over to me at olly [at] freeagentcentral [dot] com so we can see how easy supporting them would be? Feel free to anonymize the data if you like but don't change the file structure.
Hope this helps!

Do you have a generic .csv file format that could be used as a template for unspecifically-supported imports?
I'm trying to import from www.barclaycardbusinessonlineservices...
It exports some nasty excel files, but I'm quite happy to reformat this into something that is already readable by your system.
I'm presuming that your csv import just recognises a particular order of date, description, cost?

Perhaps ma.gnolia could look into using RSD
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Really_S...
http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/blogs/ge...
I've not looked into this in too much detail yet but its something I'll probably add to my blogging engine in the future.
Failing that, the ma.gnolia blogging client could try to work out the blog's API endpoint from the blog url. Most engines have a default setting, e.g. <site>/xmlrpc.php. There are a number of blogging clients that do this in addition to allowing the user to specify the endpoint.</site>

I have the same issue with my imported safari bookmarks. the same tag turns up 20+ in a row in the tag list and when I click on it it says that i don't have anything tagged with in in my bookmarks. I would REALLY like to delete this, it appears to have been some kind of folder in my safari bookmarks.

Raina Gustafson reported a problem in FreeAgent Central on April 30, 2008 18:42:
Cannot manually edit explanationsAll of a sudden, every time I try to edit an explanation and label it a payment, I am not provided with a text input line to describe it, and it is automatically labeled as a transfer to another account.
Last week, everything was working perfectly. Now I feel like I have no control over the explanations at all. What happened? If it's being caused by one of the times that I suggested a group of transactions all receive the same explanation, then I probably won't use that feature in the future at all. I'd rather have to do it manually each time and know that it is correct than have to fight the program trying to override these settings.

Raina - based on your follow-up email to this, I'm looking into the specifics of your duplicate transaction.
In general, we view the uploaded transactions as 'the truth', and if we allowed them to be edited or deleted you could very quickly go out of sync with the real bank data.
So if there are some duplicates we would rather fix FreeAgent to not let them arise in the first place (you could progressively undo uploads to remove the duplicates for the time being).

A comment on the problem ""t wasn't possible to determine the date format in that QIF file"" in FreeAgent Central:
@bb We do try to guess the year right, so I'd be interested to check out your upload file if you don't mind sending it over (anonymised names and numbers if you like). ed at freeagentcentral dot com Sorry for the hassle, and we'll try to guess better if at all possible. At least you can undo, edit and re-upload but I agree a workround isn't what we're after. – Ed Molyneux, on April 11, 2008 15:24

I'm pretty sure the Textpattern endpoint listed in the Ma.gnolia resources is incorrect. I have recently used rpc to connect to MarsEdit (which is using metaweblog-compatible technology) with this endpoint:
http://domain.com/rpc/
I would really like to be able to connect my blog and my clients' blogs with Ma.gnolia, so I hope you are able to add metaweblog support soon.
Thanks!
