A comment on the question "I can't get videos to load on fancast" in Comcast Interactive Media:
You are right, cadcamjim! I have a Mac PowerPC like yours. Your solution works. I had to search hard to find the files - I tried searching in Finder using "fancast" and "comcast" and I only found a couple of files, which I deleted. I searched using just "com" and found a bunch of other weird files and deleted all of those. After doing that, Fancast is now working for me! Thank you - I'm so glad you figured out that it is the "Optimized" option that is giving us the black screen of death. Thank you! – RT, on September 29, 2009 19:49

RT asked a question in Comcast Interactive Media on May 27, 2009 04:53:
Fancast videos not loading all of a sudden!I was always able to view Fancast videos without any problems from my iMac G5, using both Safari and Firefox. I've just noticed over the past month or two that I haven't been able to load any of the videos on Fancast except the ones that open in a popup (like the ABC player videos - those still work). The Hulu videos or the CBS videos, for example, (like Star Trek) will not load. I click play and get a blank, black rectangular box. Usually before the box, I get just a glimpse of the Fancast logo starting to play, and sometine even a glimpse of the "video loading..." message and then it just stops and goes to the plain black box. Now, if I go to the source - such as Hulu or CBS.com - I can view the videos there just fine. It's only on Fancast that I can no longer view the videos in either of my browsers.
What's interesting is that my Macbook, which is running an older version of Safari and has not been updated in a while, is still able to play Fancast videos, as is my brother's iMac. I don't understand why it is just my iMac that can't play the videos all of a sudden, when they always worked before and I have no problem playing videos on any other sites.
I would really appreciate it if you could provide an answer to this problem.
I'm sure cherieann and the others on this thread (http://getsatisfaction.com/cim/topics...) would also appreciate an answer. It's been 23 days since they've heard anything from the person who was helping them.
Thanks so much. I hope to hear from someone soon.

Please, I have this same problem with Fancast. I could see the videos fine before, but only recently I haven't been able to (while I can go to Hulu and see them from there with no problem - same iMac, same browsers, Safari and Firefox). My brother's iMac and my laptop, however, can play Fancast videos just fine, so I'm wondering why it only stopped working for my computer. What changed, and why didn't it affect my laptop (which BTW I haven't done any software updates for recently - is Fancast incompatible with some kind of software update?).
Please, please, can someone answer this question or solve this problem. I've tried Yahoo Answers, and no one has even responded yet.
p.s. I found this thread via Google.
