Rubenvb started following the question "x64 version" in Songbird.

A comment on the question "Any plans for a native 64-bit version for windows os?" in Songbird:
OK, it's what I feared :s I'll wait for the devs to implement it (no rush though! Video support is a lot more important :)) – Rubenvb, on July 28, 2009 15:46
Rubenvb replied on July 27, 2009 20:45 to the problem "3 problems with Mediaflow (2.7)" in Songbird:
Sorry to dig up an old problem, but I have choppy mediaflow performance as well :( I'm running on an Intel E8400 clocked at 2.6-3.6 GHz, which should be more than enough to display mediaflow.
XMBC has a similar view, and renders very smooth. Perhaps it is worth looking at how they implemented it. (friendly suggestion, no harm intended :d)

I have exactly the same question/request: a x64 build of songbird.
I understand Mozilla doesn't support Win64, but I noticed you use MSVC for the windows compiles. Shouldn't it just be a compile option to compile for a win64 target? If Songbird is coded OK (according to the MS 64-bit Safe norm :d), it should compile and work, right? Or does songbird use libraries that don't compile with MSVC (like GStreamer maybe?) Thanks for your time-

Shed your Firefox skin!Songbird should shed its Firefox skin a bit and lose the confusing Firefox configuration menu. It doesn't befit a (soon to be multi-)media player. Specialized config menus will make things a whole lot easier to manage for a newcomer. Of course it's a great integral part of Songbird, but Firefox should be only used as an add-on base and render engine. The rest should be left in Songbird's capable hands (or beak, or... uhm... claws?)-

Songbird's future sounds sweet!I just have to let you guys know what a great job you have all done. I first tried songbird back in its 0.2 version days and even though that was a long long time ago, you guys made Songbird into a great player.
With the future telling of video playback and audio (re-)encoding, nothing sounds sweeter than Songbird!
Although I first was a bit reluctant to see a media player integrating a browser, I now see the handiness of it. Especially after the memory and CPU optimizations made, it's a joy browsing from Songbird (of course with AdBlock plus to keep the nasties away :p)

Must-Have audio conversion options/featuresWhen converting files, it would be a good idea to have a structure similar to Xrecode: http://www.xrecode.com/
with (in order of importance):
folder structure (aritst\album\tracktitle)
REPLAYGAIN (either via tags or volume normalization)
tag copying/conversion
convert to MP3/ogg/flac/...
