ruipenunes started following the question "Where is the Songbird 1.4 FINAL release ?" in Songbird.
ruipenunes replied on October 21, 2009 23:59 to the problem "iPod sync broken, 'transcoder not available' but transcoder should not be needed" in Songbird:
If we're talking about taking a short cut, then there's another possible simple solution (at least for windows):
Download Songbird Portable at:
http://portableapps.com/apps/music_vi...
Import your media.
Install the iPod add-on and start syncing.
Of course this is just another short term solution, because the essential is having a fully functional iPod add-on.
And don't forget we're still at beta stage. Once the 1.4. is out and people start updating SB, there will be a lot more complaining.

Hi there!
Laura from the SB team gave a push on this idea on her weekly birdbath.
You can read it at SB's blog and also check this topic:

Thanks!
A comment on the question "Treeview view of music library, grouped by artist?" in Songbird:
Hi Murphy!
I suppose a lot of ideas are already jumping inside your head.
If that's the case, please let them get out. After all, it's not everyday this idea gets to have a Champ's attention.
In the meantime, if you haven't done it yet, please take a look at this other topic:
http://gsfn.us/t/p4e
There's an image there which, I think, helps selling this idea.
Thanks! – ruipenunes, on July 24, 2009 23:12

Hi there!
I was also a MusicMatch user and I really miss the treeview option either.
That's why I started this topic:
http://gsfn.us/t/p4e
I really really think it would be an awesome option for SB too.
Please give it a look. If people start talking about this, perhaps one day someone will develop and add-on.
@ Laura: can't you get us some community love?
Thanks!-

A comment on the question "Listen to Last.fm radios" in Songbird:
Hi Stevel! Thanks for the answer. It's a pitty there's no way to avoid this, but eventually a "new" last.fm will come up that doesn't discriminate its users according to their country. Thanks again for the answer and the fantastic work you're doing on SB. – ruipenunes, on June 28, 2009 08:51-
ruipenunes started following the idea "A listening history page with better integration and more information than last.fm" in Songbird.
ruipenunes replied on May 23, 2009 08:52 to the praise "Last.fm intergration" in Songbird:
This is a really, really great add-on. It's a pitty that I can't use it anymore, because of last.fm's restrictions towards anyone living outside of the USA, UK and Germany.
I've already reported this situation on get satisfaction: http://gsfn.us/t/3spu
So far I haven't had any question, so I'm insisting here.
The question is if SB can do anything about this situation?
I ask this because last.fm mentions something on their blog. They say: "Updating developers using our Radio API: third-party apps that stream Last.fm Radio will have full access to the Radio API, so streaming will work provided the user that logs in is a subscriber. (All other APIs remain free/unchanged)".
Can someone say anything about this?
Thanks!
ruipenunes replied on May 10, 2009 10:56 to the question "Listen to Last.fm radios" in Songbird:
SB has done an excellent work with this. Since it showed up, I have been using it massively and I couldn't be happier.
The problems came now and SB has nothing to do with them. If, like me, you live outside of the USA, UK and Germany you probably know what I'm talking about.
Just like last.fm states in their blog: "listeners to Last.fm Radio outside of the USA, UK and Germany will be asked to subscribe for €3.00 per month, after a 30 track free trial period. In the USA, UK and Germany, where it’s feasible to run an ad-supported radio service, there won’t be any changes. Everything else on Last.fm (scrobbling, recommendations, charts, biographies, events, videos etc.) will remain free in all countries, like it is now."
I feel this to be terribly unfair, not to mention that SB's add-on is now useless to whoever lives elsewhere in the world.
The question is if SB can do anything about it? I ask this because last.fm mentions something else on their blog. They say: "Updating developers using our Radio API: third-party apps that stream Last.fm Radio will have full access to the Radio API, so streaming will work provided the user that logs in is a subscriber. (All other APIs remain free/unchanged)".
If this means that despite the restrictions last.fm is imposing one could still listen to its radios through SB then I suppose there would be a lot more people starting to listen to SB.
Can someone from SB say anything about this?
Thanks and, once again, thank you for all your wonderful work!

I also used MusicMatch Jukebox, so it would be great if some of its functions could be adapted to SB.
I already suggested one of those here:
http://gsfn.us/t/p4e
Give it a look.
