haha, yes, we're very aware of that, though your solution would only enable/disable roar's at the page change level since the java portion is server side, and there's not need to add network overhead to have the server disable sending instead. When I get a chance, we'll be using a method with more real-time flexibility to queue incoming roar's at the client level, and then show them to you after you finish playing. Doing so could also give somebody the ability to disable roars entirely should they wish to.
This weekend downtime for our realtime services, however, isn't a matter of turning it off selectively. We needed to have them entirely segregated in order to test some native library issues causing C heap corruption :-)

this is coded in java right? If so it can be easily changed so that it only shows the message when your NOT playing, which is the problem.
For example, you could just add
If and ingame variable is set to true, you could make a RoAr variable set to false, then simply make sure that roar can be turned off and on, and such, ... you should let me code it :)

Roar and ShowdownsShowdowns and Roar (the real-time messages in the top right) will be disabled for the weekend of Oct. 11th - 12th, and perhaps further into the week. We apologize for any inconvenience. Don't worry, though, this is all part of bringing you a better JamLegend experience. Look for a showdown overhaul within a few weeks....

That happens on some songs, there is also something that occurs within the game once you reach medium or hard that when there are multiple notes if you are not hitting them right on time but still get the points it's almost like the game gets a nervous attack for a split second lol but then it levels out again.

Storm replied on October 02, 2008 22:28 to the problem "Stuttering In Game" in Jam Legend:
For me it looks like:
- All the time I play a song, the first notes that arrive are resonating back and forward for s ec.
- Randomly some notes are stopping for sime millisec and then teleporting forward, many times simply "phasing through" the area where I could hit them, making the impossible to catch.
- Crowd cheers and text messages increase the likelyhood of lagging, and sometimes they cause longer and stronger lag then the random happening lag.
- Strength and likelyhood of lagging changes randomly from day to day. Sometimes there is no noticable lag, other times it makes IMPOSSIBLE to play at all.
- Lag sometimes accompanies by another error: Some notes are going through the hitting are WITHOUT being hit, even if I press the button, it looks like if I were not press Enter, though I did (No error in keyboard).

And the best is that while I loose 1300 point on an easy song, I do not get more than 100 point for a medium one, oeven if it is close to be perfect.I am simply unable to get back the lost rating points other way than doing 13 medium song......... Something is really wrong with this pointing system. – Storm, on October 02, 2008 22:23

Yeah, give us more flexibility to set what's idle time and what's not.
User's activities are very different and subjective - thus, it must be customizable.
For example, i'm a programmer and often using paper for prototyping and stuff. So RescueTime shows about 3 hrs of Eclipse usage per day, but really it's about hefty 5-6 hrs.

I think you did a good job with the product. And you answered the question, which is 2 minutes of idleness and it stops tracking. There are other ways to track other time, and what Dallas Despain is asking for is probably too complex and involved. Personally I don't want to do any extra work when computer usage occurs. Once you start asking me questions and breaking up the work flow, it'll just be a pain and add to the interrupts and time to get things done. – bluespeaker, on September 24, 2008 19:22
