    Hi Jill,

So, we've been working on the search and, for the next release, you should see something like the option A you described. You'll be able to skim through a large list of search results, select a trip that catches your eye, and then get a stack based on that. The search results in the list view will still be in alphabetical order, for now, but since you will be able to page through the results, you shouldn't have the problem that exists today where you simply can't get past certain trips in the list. Note that the resultant trip stack you get after selecting a trip is not sorted alphabetically.

Yes, the country list is not in alphabetical order and we are also fixing this in the next release. FYI, the order today is not actually random - it is in order of trip count (like you see on the web site). But, you are right, without any visual indication of this, it might as well be random! Our feedback so far seems to indicate that most people would prefer an alphabetically sorted list so that is what we are doing.

Thanks again for all the great feedback.

    Hi Gill,

First, thanks so much for the detailed feedback. It is really helpful to us.

The problem of not being able to see more search results is at the top of our list. What you will see is similar to the functionality that you see in the Tags view: A "More..." button where you can load the next set of matching trips in your results. Let us know if you have any other ideas about how you would like to see this work.

Thanks for pointing out the issue of seeing two listings in the search completion list when you search for "South Africa". The search catalog is populated with tags and regions/countries so what you are seeing is the tag "south africa" and the country "South Africa". We'll look at cleaning up those duplicates.

Note that you don't have to restart the app if you want to do a different search. All you should have to do is tap in the search field again. This will bring up the on-screen keyboard and you can clear or modify your query and search again. If you clear your search term, you are returned to the main view.

When you are viewing a trip in the stack, only tapping the "more" button or the summary text will take you to the full details. When you do that, do you notice the "less" button in the bottom left corner? It replaces the "more" button. This is the button that takes you back to the view where you can see the larger trip image and continue browsing through the stack. The navigation button on the upper right is intended for leaving the stack and going back to your previous location in the app (the "Trazzler" home screen, tags, countries, etc.).

We'll think about ways to make these things more intuitive (and, again, we'd love to hear any ideas you have). In the meantime, I hope this information makes it a little more usable for you.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Just to add to what Adam said, when you do a search or drill into a trip stack, Trazzler trips are given priority. So, if your search term is too wide, you will likely only see Trazzler trips in the results that are returned. Likewise, when you drill into a trip stack, the algorithm will give Trazzler trips priority and you won't see a user trip in the stack. I hope that clarifies things. If you have a specific trip you are having trouble with, let us know.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi,

I see where you are coming from. The idea in the current implementation is that when you select a trip from the list, a "trip stack" is generated that allows you to swipe through and view more trips (definitely more than 15). But it sounds like you would like to be able to page through more trips directly in the list view. This is not the first time we have heard this and it is definitely on the radar.

We appreciate the feedback... keep it coming!
