Word. I noticed right after filing that that it was tripping over "Tonight". I'd almost recommend just not providing any feedback, or at least only instantiating a single ellipses no matter how many requests are queued.
If the current input is completely incomprehensible to the system - the input is not null, the user has been idle for ~500ms, and no single component can be parsed - maybe say something like: "Our machines can't figure out the date you're describing. Please, try describing it another way." Or something less verbose, I guess.-

I like the flexibility of Michael's idea to have a "clickable region" component, but I am more partial to OmniGraffle's "action" property on all objects.
It seems to me to be the most flexible solution, allowing me to specify that any object will behave as a link to another canvas, or focus on a specific object when responding to an onclick event. -
