I broke a spot!An attempt to merge a spot seems to have killed the spot.

"Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."
I may have attempted to abort a merge to choose the other candidate. Sorry! Won't do that again.

Foursquare lets you do this, and I find it problematic. I created spots for half a dozen nightlife hotspots in Honolulu from my couch in suburbia a couple of days ago. I could even check into them remotely, even jumping from one end of the island to another in five minutes, a physical impossibility. And that's without the issue of duplicates, which would become a big problem once a local userbase was established.
One of the great things about Gowalla is that you have to actually be there before you can say you're there. It takes more time, I suppose, but I think it undermines any "game" aspect if you're allowed to stay at home and still claim an active social life.-

I broke a spot!Proud and productive Gowalla STE member here, but unfortunately I think I broke a spot. I was nudging the pin for a building and when I tried to save the change, got the "Shenanigans" error. Tried going back and resubmitting, logging out and back in, and so on, but it looks like I may have killed the whole spot or corrupted something. Can you take a look?

Need to move a spot in Honolulu (Kalani High School).A fellow Honolulu user reported accidentally creating a spot several miles from the correct location (using Android web-based GPS, which is sketchy). I'm a proud Street Team Elite member but the distance covered is far too great for me to adjust.
Kalani High School

The actual location is here (Google Maps link):

Or straight GPS coordinates are:
21.278608, -157.773845
Please let me know how to be most helpful in providing corrections like these! Thanks.
hawaii asked a question in Gowalla on November 09, 2009 05:14:
Should we create spots for towns or neighborhoods?I see there are broad "spots" for states, so Gowalla can report I've been in Hawaii, or California, etc. But what's the policy on spots for neighborhoods or towns? That is a distinct place in the minds of locals, but definitely spanning more distance than an "XX-Large" park or complex?
Example: Many urban or downtown areas have a "Chinatown." It's not really a business or specific corner, but a collection of city blocks that is just generally recongizable as such.
The problem, as I see it, is that (1.) even the largest spot radius won't cover all of what someone might consider part of a neighborhood or town, no matter how distinct, and (2.) there's a fine line between a "Chinatown" and, say, Simi Valley, which is a whole city, even though most people might just consider it a specific location.-
