Well I did what you asked me to do, I figured out that RC stood for "release candidate" version and you're right, the "Black" feather does work for the RC version. However I did not perform the RC update initially. I was updating the latest "Black" feather, and that's when the problem started.
As for my original steps to reproduce the behavior
1. Install SB 0.6.1
2. Install Blak

I didn't quite understand you on "o.7rc build" issue. Is this a new version of SB? if it is, how do i install it? I installed SB 0.6.1 and then installed Black, and I get that weird behavior. I was checking out the comments on the "Blak" feathers page, and found someone else facing the same problem. Do you think this is something to do with the feather? – Safder, on August 18, 2008 20:55

After deleting the hidden file, I was able to start songbird properly. The feather which is causing the problem is "Blak". I think this is what is causing the behavior – Safder, on August 18, 2008 20:23

I am using 0.6.1. As for the feathers, I cannot access anything, when I start the app. If you see the snapshot image I posted, you will see that the app does not render due to which I can't access anything on the app. I was looking at the "extensions" folder and i found "basic-layouts@songbirdnest.com" and "rubberducky@songbirdnest.com". So i am not sure whether this is a good place(folder) to look for "feathers", if not what would be a good folder to look for the "feathers" in the app? – Safder, on August 18, 2008 19:58

I did start from 0.6.1. I deleted the old folder, and tried to install again, using the previously downloaded tar file, but the problem still exists. Is there a particular folder I could check without starting the app? Is the "extensions" folder an apt place for checking what "feathers/addons" I have? – Safder, on August 18, 2008 19:51

Well I started my app, and then songbird informed me that there were some updates, i think it was my themes (this is what i am not sure about.), is there a way to find out what update i performed..or where the themes are installed.?
But anyways that's pretty much it, after the updates the app started acting the way it is acting?

Songbird Update ProblemsHi,
I have not been able to use my songbird application , after I made an update recently. I am not sure whether the update was an add-on update. I have a very weird problem.
As you can see, songbird does not render properly. In addition to this songbird hogs all the resources of my computer. If I click on anything , it takes ages to respond to my clicks. I can't even use songbird 'cuz it doesn't render properly. I tried to remove and then reinstall it, and the same thing happened. The OS I use is Ubunty 8.01. I would really appreciate if someone could help. Thank you.
