I just checked and in fact the default is 44.100kHz, Mono, 64Bits/sec, with the option of changing it to anything between 8 and 192k - that's on Camtasia 4.0.1-

Glad you are unblocked from the problem.
One favor - can you look in your Camtasia recorder and see if they allow for setting the bit rate while outputing the audio file;
This problem happens because our slidecast codec craps out whenever it encounters an audio file with a bit rate of 0; and camtasia for some reason (by default) sets the bit rate to 0. If it were possible to adjust the rate in camtasia, that might do the trick...
In any case, we'll update this in our FAQs for slidecasting...

Amit, you may have the answer there - the mp3 was indeed encoded using Camtasia. So I will re-encode using Audacity and see how I get on. Watch this space... -

Sorry for keeping you waiting this long. Actually our engineers are not sure what the problem is ....
We did some testing again today and they have ruled out the cause being the file hosting server itself (which might have been a probable cause).
In all probabilities, the problem is due to the mp3 file and something to do with its encoding. (we have encountered random problems like this before as well with specific audio files).
A couple of questions might help us, if you can spare the time -
- how was this audio produced? what software or hardware device was used to record or produce it? (camtasia is known to create problems withslideshare

- can you try creating a slidecast with another mp3 audio file that was produced using the same softare/hardware.. does that work?
As of now, I do not have the answer why this is happening... but the above two questions might help

After posting this question I eventually gave up and used an Archive.org-hosted audio stream. That worked, but before that I had tried two or three times to redo the Slidecast using a Typepad-hosted mp3 file with no luck whatsoever.

We looked into this and it seems to work fine (we craeted a test slidecast using your URL)....
Are you still getting that problem...? Can you plese try to redo the slidecast and see if this is reoccuring.... ?

Yes, the buffer on my edit page also stays at 0%. -

I had a similar issue, except for me the buffer never rises above 0%. -
